Fridge just stopped working 2015 23ikss

All,

Interesting thing happened today. I brought my roo home (from storage) in prep for a camping trip. When I went to start the fridge...nada..no lights, no cooling..nothing. Tried it with both gas and electric.

First thought was that I had a blown fuse. Checked the panel and the fuse was fine (was a 15 fuse). I then noticed that the fuse was labeled fridge and furnace. So I decided to start the furnace...nada..nothing..won't come on (the AC works just fine). I decided to plug the fridge light bulb in..and no light either (I took the light out a few weeks ago).

Also, the Roo was not plugged in during storage...had the battery disconnected. Have plenty of propane, battery and clean electricity at my house.

Any thoughts or ideas what I should check? I purchased from RVW (and live in Texas) so calling the dealer is a long shot for success.

Look forward to any advice you can give!

Thanks,

Kelly

do you have anything working that is on 12 volts dc. If not check inverter also battery connections most inverts will not work unless their is a good battery connected , loose connections can make it appear that you have a problem bigger when it is just a loose wire. also check polarity + -.
If wire not color coded properly the wite wire is probably +. Depends on wether an Electrican or Electronics guy wired it!!

Ok I would check on the back side if frig and see if their is anything obvious there still sounds like power problem. Maybe some small critter got in there during storage. If you have a volt meter you can check for power 12dc and 120 volt ac on the back side of frig.

I thought that model had a factory battery disconnect somewhere.

The fridge works on 120 or propane. I would check the AC power. Are you plugged into shore power.

Have you checked breakers?

So the only things not working are on the same DC circuit. I would double check the fuse, take the fuse out and reseat it if you have not done this already, or try a new fuse. I have had fuses look ok but still be open. I would also check to make sure the wire has not come loose at the converter circuit board.

Happy, guess I should know this...but..where is the converter circuit board? I did everything else this morning in your instructions above.

Lol../stupid question. I found it and checked all the wires. Quit a few were not tightened properly and I tightened accordingly. However, the one for the fridge / furnace was good and tight.

I am not sure what else to explore. Clearly, I am not getting power to the circuit that is for the furnace and fridge. I even switched all the fuses...no luck.

Do you have a multimeter to check the voltages? You need to check the voltage at the wire from the circuit board and then go to the back of the fridge, you can get to the back of the fridge by removing the bottom cover on the outside of the trailer. If you have voltage at the circuit board but not at the fridge then you need to follow the wire from the circuit board and find out were the voltage stops. Some times they will but inline fuses behind panels. Is there one or two wires going to the fridge furnace at the circuit board? If only one there must be a junction point somewhere

Remove the outside fridge vent cover. Look to the right of the compartment and you will see the stack that vents out the roof. On this stack there are 2 wires connected. They may both be red as in this picture. In between those wires is a resetable circuit breaker. Put your finger between the wires & push this breaker to reset. Go inside & check to see if the fridge lights are on. There is a good chance that this is the easiest fix you will have to get your fridge working. I speak from experience as I had a similar situation & when I called the dealer they directed me to call an RV repair place. Since I was out in the boonies the guy had me do this & the fridge worked fine since then. This breaker protects the fridge from overheating from being out of level for too long of time or for other reasons. Good luck. Let us know if this works.

Also, there are two fuses in the outside fridge compartment on the circuit board, one for 12vdc and one for 120vac. If it goes the fridge will do what you are saying. It is interesting that you found a fuse inside for the fridge/furnace, I do not have that for my 23SS. My fridge is not fused on the inside.

We had the same problem on our Wildcat 5th wheel. It was recommended to look for a resettable breaker on the distribution panel also. Once I put on my glasses and held a flashlight just right I could see that little bitty reset button.
Didn't help that it was dark in the compartment, the breaker was black as is the reset button.

+1 to that. The more I hang around here the more I'm starting to realize that only 20% of the fuses are actually in the fuse box. Silly me.

I must admit, the issues with the fridge seem to be the most frustrating ~ ya gotta keep your food and beverages nice and cold! ~ funny story ~ we had a 5er that the fridge needed "jostling" from time to time. No problem as we would "jostle" it everytime we went somewhere, except the year my DD won 1 month at a nice RV park So after a week or two we needed to "jostle" it but didn't want to hook up and move it so I sent DD, DS, and DH out to jump up and down on the bumper (after lifting the jacks) yes, it worked and the neighbors thought we were crazy ~ still laugh at the memory of their expressions!
