Furnace; 2012 Rockwood Roo 233S

Hello,

We just bought our Rockwood Roo. We love it even tho we have not been camping beyond our backyard yet! I do have a concern and i'm not too sure how to fix it. Last night we were watching a movie in the Roo and it was getting cold so we turned on the furnace. It was blowing cold air only, even tho we had it set on 90 degrees, on heat, and on auto fan. I'm not too sure why it wasn't working? Does it need to have the propane on? Can it be used as eletric? If anyone has some information that would be great!

I had a similar problem early on with our PUP's furnace. Turned out that I didn't have the propane tank connection stabbed in all the way.

When you demand heat - by setting the thermostat up - the fan will come on within 30 seconds or so, you should then hear a click-click as it tries to light the burner, and then heat within a few minutes.

It only works on propane, 12V is required for the fan.

Make sure your propane is on, light a burner on the cooktop for 1 minute or two, to get rid of air bubbles in the lines.

Is your hot water heater working OK ? do you have hot water ?

We have only had our roo for 24 hrs, lol! I have not tryed the propane yet so that must be it. I'm not sure why I thought it was only electric? I'll be "playing" with my new toy a lot tomorrow and it's forecasted to be cold again tomorrow here in Ohio. It's a wonderful forum, thank you for your help!!!!

what dealer did your walkthrough/PDI?

that's a basic thing for them to explain to new owners. if they didn't go over that with you, who knows what else they didn't tell you!

yes, the furnace is propane-only. the fan and lighting the pilot requires 12v power from the battery.

before you run anything on the propane, light the stove and let the burners burn all the air out of lines.
then you'll have no problems with the furnace, oven, water heater or fridge running on the propane.

Yes they did a wonderful demo with us. Ruff's Rv Center was great! I must of been running after my kid while he explained that portion? I will be trying that out soon. I'm sure it will work.

If it's real cold (back bunk is coldest), you may need to insulate the bunks/canvas to hold in the heat or the furnace will run continously, and you'll still be cold. I found the furnaxe to be a bit noisy, so I've actually ben using an indoor propane furnace. I leave it on low, and then the furnace only kicks on occassionally. I've been in the snow in my 233s and the canvas cover works well.
