One of many.
Hit the auto store and don't buy the cheap.

I use boat marine trailer hub grease. I figure if it's good enough to be submerged in water for my boat.....

My trailer is going on five years old now with the original bearings and brakes. I open up the bearings and brakes every year to check.

If it is Dexter they recommend the Lithium 2. Not sure about any other. I am using the Lithium 2.

If you're adding use a grease compatible with what's in there. If you're replacing then use what's been recommended by the manufacturer.

Red-n-Tacky.

However, if this is the first time you're adding any grease to the hubs, I suggest that you pull them and replace all the grease in there with new grease. The simple reason is that you never know what someone has put in them. And as mentioned above, you don't want to mix incompatible greases. It also gives you a look at the brakes and seals.

If it is a late model Dexter Axle they use Lithium #2.

While the mfg. would have used the proper lube in them, my point is that you never know what was added after they were delivered to the RV mfg. or the dealer. I'm pretty certain that the dealer added grease to the bearings of our RV before we purchased it. And while I hope that they used compatible grease, I'm not sure that they didn't just send a kid out there and told them to grab a grease gun and grease the bearings.

That would be a pretty ambitious dealer. I don't think a grease gun ever touched my axles until I did it the first time after I got our TT home. The zerks on the Dexter axles were pristinely clean...

I use Mystik JT6 #2 High Temperature grease... it's good stuff, been using it for years.

I doubt the dealers are greasing a new rig before delivery.

After having to replace 2 brake plates because of grease blowing past the seal I am very leary of pumping in much grease with the zircs. For the 1st several years I did that pumped in grease until the new grease came through. Then when I pulled the wheels found that the grease has pushed through the seal and coated the brakes.

What kind of grease gun do you have?
