When running the furnace and oven for the first few times, have the windows open and fans running as they tend to smoke a little. It is normal as the oils from manufacturing are burning off. It may even set off the smoke detector, but no worries.

We run our heater and not the hot water all the time in the early spring and late fall. We have in this camper, in a previous TT, and a pop up before that. Never had a problem. Of course we HAVE burned up a hot water heater because we forgot to flip the darned open/close valves when we dewinterized. Once because we were dumb. This time because the new camper has 2 instead of 1 and they are HARD to get to in the Vlite. But that's a whole other conversation huh?

I have used the mattress heaters a lot but not in such low temps. My complaint is that the heating elements get too hot. May not make sense but might suggest another heavy sheet between you and the heated pad.

Smithers: The Op is talking about the mattress heaters that come with the FR mattresses. The heaters are located on the BOTTOM of the mattress. So are you talking about an after-market heating pad or the ones that come built in with the FR mattresses? As I said, the FR ones are on the bottom of the mattress and only put out ~150watts. They don't "get hot," they just keep you warm. Read my discussion in Post #2.
If yours FR ones and were on top, then I suspect your mattress was upside down.

Very interesting yes our heating pads are on top of the mattresses. You were saying that they should be on the underside of the mattresses? We just might be upside down on this one....

The bottom of the mattress should have several cloth tabs with either snaps or velcro to attach the mattress to the bunk. If these are on top, your mattress is upside down.

No matter how I explained it to him he just kept telling me no and if I did it would void my warranty. I may try and give them a call again and see if I can talk to a different guy in the service department.

The heating coils on the mattresses in our '07 Roo, are on the top, not the bottom.

Interesting. I believed mine were on the bottom. Now you have me wondering. Maybe they aren't. In any case, it doesn't get hot enough to make me uncomfortable. TT's in storage now, so I can't really check.

2014 Roo, heating coils are on the top, have the strap/snap for placement on the bunk ends during storage.
