Hot Water

We are camping in North Florida and having some issues with our hot water (2014 233s model).

Cold water is flowing through the sink, bathroom sink and outside shower; however, there is no water flowing out the hot water side.

Any suggestions on what I need to troubleshoot?

Check the bypass valves. You must check from the inside of the camper by removing the panel behind the WH.

The WH is in the bypass position shown here.

If this is something that just happened -- yesterday you had water and today you don't -- you probably have a defective/stuck check valve at your water heater.

Thanks for posting! Not sure how to access this on my model - I can access the water filter from inside but don't see an access point to get to this?

Thanks for posting, Bruce --- no the hot water was not working yesterday - the only time we can get water is if we use the cold water handles (hope that makes sense)

How long has this been a problem?

This our first trip in a while (the unit was shipped back to the factory for repairs)... so this is the first time we noticed it wasn't working.

Any idea how to access the hotwater bypass valve?

Where is the water heater on the 233S? What is on the other side of it inside of the camper? That's where you need to get to.

Was able to get to it (really awkward in my model - underneath the couch w/ no real access panel).

Have water flowing now- just have to play with the valves to see which combo gets the water hot!

Love this forum!

If you have the three valve system, for normal use, you want the cold water inlet valve open, the hot water outlet valve open, and be sure to have the bypass valve closed (which ties the cold water and hot water lines together).

Normally, the T-handles will indicate the position. If the handle is parallel with the line, then it's open, and if the t-handle intersects the line, it is closed.

It's easy to confuse the open/closed positions, especially on the bypass valve, since that line is usually running vertical compared to the horizontal cold/hot water lines.

Here is a diagram for normal use vs winterization mode.

actually, it's pretty common in areas that require winterizing.

dealers sell units still in winterizing mode to newbies that don't know or owners winterize and forget to turn the valves back to normal.

I've been using a bright orange tag wired to my cabinet handle for years. It reads "Water heater empty, bypassed. Fill tank before lighting"
It is cheap insurance for my electric element and is infinitely reusable.
