Rt. 9 is no problem, it's 9A that has the low overpasses.

Well, now I'm confused...one says rte 9 has the low bridges, another says it's 9A.

We took our camper to Croton Point this summer and had a good time. We didn't have problems with the low bridges but only because we were lucky. (Ignorance was bliss) It was pointed out to me that in NY anytime a road is labeled as a parkway it is intended for cars and not commercial traffic. Many of the parkways have very low bridges that will destroy your camper. It was suggested to me that taking a US highway would solve the problem since they are intended for commercial vehicles. Good luck and have fun.

I checked google earth and actually looked at the bridges/underpasses and I don't see ANY markings regarding height on them.

any help would be appreciated.
I downloaded an app called trucker path pro on my phone, it has a low clearance feature plus fuel stops and scales

I live and travel the roads, you will be going on every day, to work. It will be tight travel but stay in the LEFT lane. You will see signs with heights as low as 10 foot 1 inch, don't panic!!! They are for the right lane. The bridges are arched, so the center is higher. Tractor trailers travel these roads every day, but in the LEFT lane. Stay left and you will be fine.

What time will you be going through? commuter traffic is bad. I know from my commute.

Let me know if you have any other questions....

I almost forgot, if you get lost, do not go on any parkways. ie Taconic State, Bronx River or Sprain Parkway. Those bridges are not marked because those roads are passenger car only. No trucks or trailers allowed.

I plan on taking 9A, as advised by many, to avoid going through town. The info here is very confusing. Is 9A part of either of these parkways?

No. If you stay on 9 or 9a. You will be fine. You will see signs for those parkways as you pass them. I just wanted to give you the warning to stay off them. That's all.
