HVAC question
Hi all,
So we are on our first camping trip with our 2004 Shamrock. So far, so good except for what appears to be a broken propane regulator. Our popup had AC and a furnace. There was a heat strip in the AC but it warmed minimally. My question is this...does anyone know if the AC has a heat strip or is the heat strictly powered by propane? I didn't even try it last night, just assuming it wouldn't help. Thank goodness for sleeping bags! It wasn't too bad at 45 degrees but would have been a lot more comfortable with a little heat. Thanks!

I've never seen a heatstrip in an ac on a pop up. Doesn't mean you don't have it but most likely not. Your pop up Heater is propane only. Also a lot better than that little heat strip would do anyway

Try turning the gas off at the tank, and then turn it back on VERY slowly. Sometimes the valve can be opened too quickly and enact the safety feature of the regulator.

since you don't specify what model shamrock you have it's hard to say.
those with ducted a/c do not have a heat strip capability.
Those without ducted a/c may have that capability.
it all depends on which brand and model a/c you have.

And if you've got shore power available, get a small 1500 watt heater. It will keep the chill off.

If the a/c unit has a "heat" setting on the control panel, then it is heat strip capable. It does not mean it has a heat strip. The heat strip is usually an optional item. As far as installation, they are plug & play. You can remove the interior cover of the a/c to check if you have one.

Can also look into the RV comfort systems unit for electric heat, we had one in our popup and it ruled, I will be putting one in my next TT for sure.

My old Coleman PUP had a heatstrip in the A/C. it was next to useless. A good 4 slice toaster puts out more heat than it did. It was only like 750 watts and supposedly just for knocking down the chill on a cool morning.
It didnt.

Yes! I had a palomino popup and the heat strip was next to useless. The furnace sure was nice though

I had a little ceramic heater I used when we had a pop up with A/C but no heat. Worked like a charm.
