I don't leave mine open unatended, especially that big one I have like yours, although it would probably be a good idea to anchor it, i run it in first sign of it getting windy. There is a guy on here that sells a pole kit for just that.

I didn't until this year...but now it is solid as a rock! I bought the awning pole kit from Turbs on here and it is awesome! I left it out in 20mph winds last weekend and had zero concern.
I have had several people ask how I ordered my roo with awning poles...they look completely stock and match the black perfectly.
I also bought an awning shade for later in the summer and deployed it once...pretty awesome. It is almost like adding a room to my camper.
I give the kit two big thumbs up.

I have Only been supporting and tying our Elect 21' Awning down since 2010, Rain or Wind! I will Post when we have a Failure because of "Weather Deployment"!  Youroo!!

I'll be tying mine down at times. I bought OC's brackets and Turb's aluminum poles awhile back. I'm also going to make a set of poles I have seen on seen so deflappers can be used. I always carported and tied down our previous awning which were all manual unless it was a one night stopover or a quick weekend trip.
I'll be debating this power awning for awhile I think. I really liked the carport feature of the manual and the fact that once you put the one support out in carport you could open the entry door all the way around flat to the camper wall. Even tying down this power awning you still have to contend with the hardware.......maybe some of that comes from being 6'4".
Don't even attempt to tie down without poles, that will get expensive quick.

And then there are those like myself who deploy the electric awning when needed and retract when unattended/at night. Not a suitable strategy if also deploying a screen enclosure or party lights or such but just fine otherwise...

I just have the one piece sun screen and I agree...I would never use it without support.
I did the retract/extend thing all last year and it just about made me never even deploy it. Every breeze made me so anxious the way it would shake around...it wasn't worth it. If I ever have a choice in the future I will stick with manual awnings but these poles are pretty fantastic.

No. Earthquakes don't seem to bother the awning and if it gets windy, I push the button.

X2 I never leave unattended and roll it in at night or if I am away from the camper during the day.
Turbs
I never thought about what that motor costs so next time we are camping close to each other I'll have to check out those supports.
