Hybrid tent end locks

Just bought a used Shamrock 23ikss and I found out that every lock other than the door is the well known CH751 including the tent end locks. These are the ones that lock at the bottom and have the connecting rod to the top with the hook catch for the tent ends. The 751 locks seems to be embedded in the plastic at the bottom. Any idea on how to get them out so I can replace them. Thanks

You should be able to remove the screw and lever on the back, then tap them out with a hammer.

Here's a good place for replacements.

RVLocksAndMore Catalog | RV Locks | RV Keys | Fastec FIC Locks and Keys

You can get them keyed the same as your entry door so you'll only need to carry one key.

anything that is plastic can be broken easily to gain access...

if you are looking for security to lock the tent doors closed, then I would question that reasoning...

When I owned a rag top car, I never locked the door, preferring the criminal not slit my top to gain access to whatever they wanted in the car...

In almost 15 years, I only got my cassette tape box ripped off once.

I guess I use the same logic here... if someone wants in to your TT and has to break the plastic rods to gain access to the tent sections, then slit open an access hole, well then that maybe an even bigger problem then someone just taking a prybar to the main entry door.

Trying to reduce the ring of keys I carry. Bike rack bike lock storage compartments pin lock etc. I do understand that locks only keep the honest people out. They reduce temptation and hopefully keep the bad guys moving along. I too owned a convertible.

I only lock the back bed - just to keep it from 'accidentally' opening during travel. At least on this camper I only have two keys - door and everything else. (Needed 4 with my last camper.) It would nice to have just one key for the whole rig.

Nomad1:

When I said "tap them out," I was talking about the ones in the storage doors. I don't know anything about changing the ones in the bunk locks.

Sorry if I misled you.

Never know when you have the same lock as everyone else. Once with my Coleman PUP I had a family drive in by us & they had forgotten their keys to open up their Coleman. Borrowed ours & got right in. Saved the day.

Try CH751.com I replaced all my lock barrels with tubular style keyed barrels that were all able to be keyed the same. Now any Tom, Dick or Harry with a CH751 key cannot access my stuff.

I had the same thing happen. We were heading out on a camping trip and one of the family's had the same Coleman model as us but a different year, they lost the keys, ours fit no problem.

I replaced my 5 outside storage locks and one of my entry doors so they'd all match the other entry door. Now I've got about a dozen keys that fit, so it's easy to leave a couple in the truck!
