You want WDH with an F150 no matter what package it has. I tow my 23WS a lot without using my WDH but thats with a GMC 2500. If I am on a longer trip I'll use the WDH just for poops and giggles. an IKSS has more tongue weight than my 23WS.

X2 on the toppers, I would see if they'll put one on the kitchen slide also for if you ever want to not deploy the main awning.

On an IKSS the kitchen slide have very little clearance to the main awning.
To the point that if you pitch the awning to it's maximum, the kitchen slide will be rubbing the awning.
I think if you add a topper to the kitchen slide the rubbing will be constant...

I dont think a topper for the kitchen slide is available. The awning essentially is the topper. Now if you dont have an awning......

I put one on our 23WS wardrobe slide which I guess may have a little more overhead clearance than the IKSS as it only runs out about 14". It was tight butvit fits. I had to ignore the Dometic install dimensions which is no big deal because Rockwood ignored them also on my large streetside topper.

I do not trust slides when it comes to heavy downpours without toppers from past experience and I do not want to run out my main awning everytime I run out the ward slide.

We live in Arizona, and there was absolutely no roo's out here . The closest one was in California, an 11 Hour Dr.ive from here. So I called the one in California found out what the best price they would give me was. Then I called Forest River directly and found out who the authorised dealer in this area was. When I called them they quoted me $32,000. Long story short I took the quote from the one in California and got the local dealer here to order me one custom-made with all the upgrades and only paid $500 more than the one in CA ( would have spent that much on gas ). Be firm with them. I stood my ground and kept telling them I would walk away. They eventually came down .

No!!! $32,000 - That was the original price they quoted me to have one custom made. the one in Turlock CA was $24,999. There are none here is AZ, so I got them order me one, and we got it with everything for $25,400 (the new solid surface counters too). All you on the east coast get a much better price than we do here.

Make sure that you figure in transportation costs when considering the price. Most dealers will have that built in, but need to look at RVW & RVD transport costs.

I pull a 2015 233s with an 2013 F150 EB from piney woods of Texas through the mountains of Colorado with no issues, but I would never attempt with out a WDH and sway control. It surely keeps piece of mind when traveling.

Roo

We bought the Roo 23WS (2017) in September. We love it, no problems or quality issues so far. Camped in it three days coming home. We paid $22K, but had to go to Indiana to get that price. Unit had a number of custom options included at that price - large awning over the slide, maple cabinets, vinyl flooring that has the wood look, and power tongue jack.

We made the mistake of not having a slide topper put on our 23SS(which the 23WS is a clone of except for the new wardrobe slideout ) before we paid for it.
It's a 12' slide topper which are not cheap.
But so glad we got one added .

Did the wardrobe slideout have a topper too?

When you were shopping did you happen to check with Keystone RV center in Greencastle PA? They matched RV Direct's price of just under 22k for an almost fully optioned Shamrock 23ikss. I got one of the first 2017s: built the first week of March and picked up in April. We are currently on our 10th camping trip of the season. Great trailer.

Looking at and Buying a Roo 23WS

to Forest

I looked on-line for over a year and visited MANY websites.* (Spoke to a few sales people as well.)* Don't remember for sure if I tried Keystone, but I looked just now and they don't even seem to carry either Roo or Shamrock.* Our small wardrobe slide does not have a cover awning, the large side awning covers it.* Does your unit have the u-shape dining area? That was important for me.*

Keystone carries Shamrocks. That is where we got our 23WS.

There's a Keystone RV Co. (they build Keystone RV's) and there's a Keystone RV Center that sells RV's. This is the one you want:

Keystone RV Center PA RV Dealer | Jayco, Flagstaff, Coachmen, Sunseeker New and Used Campers

Keystone (in Greencastle) carries Shamrocks. Looks like they are sold out for the moment. We were there in October and they had I think 2 or 3 on the lot. They said they would not be ordering anymore until the spring.

I really liked the dealership. There prices as advertised on-line were ~$22k for a 233S.

I see 17 hybrids on their website: 10 Jayco's and 7 Shamrocks: 2 - 23ikss's, 2 - 17's, 2 - 23SS's, and a 183.

Go to "RVs For Sale" and in the "Jump To" field chose "Expandables."
