I ripped my awning!

Hey all.
Crap, I put a small tear in my awning . I was backing it into the side yard and caught the edge of the flippin' rain gutter. It's about a 6 inch tear. Yes the awning was rolled up, so it's on the outside/top near the roof attachment.
So, how can I mend it?
Help me people!

Hi Jeff,

I feel your pain. I ripped the awning on my brand new never-used camper last year while driving through a vaulted underpass in rural Pennsylvania.

Anyways, I used some RV awning repair tape purchased at the local RV dealer to mend the rip. It made a fairly transparent repair. You can also find the tape on-line at places such as Camping World.

Walmart also carrys awning repair tape by Camco. Not sure if there's a difference in quality or not.

x2 for awning repair tape. Used it with good results before replacing the awning on my old TT.

I bought the Imcom awning repair tape from Amazon. That stuff is amazing. On a previous RV, I taped my rip on both sides and it lasted for three years and is probably still on there now.

UPDATE:
So I posted back in 2012 about ripping my awning. Used the "Camco" Awning/vinyl tape from Walmart and it's still holding strong after nearly 3 years. Not bad, not bad at all.

Thanks for all of the member info on this. I snagged mine on a tree branch coming out of our elk camp site this year and need to get it fixed in time for turkey season.
