I think I want to sell the Shamrock.
I really thought I would love sleeping under canvas and enjoy the extra room, but truly, I'm not. I hate the set-up and tear down, I hate the lack of counter space. We originally were going to buy the ultra lite 25fks, I wish now we had.
So, next spring I will have my Shamrock 21ss for sale.

Coming from a popup, I appreciate how simple the setup is. Cut our setup time by 1/4th. Which was 1/4th better than tent days......but I bet a full on hard sider is even more simple-er.

JudeAnn, I know you haven't had your 21SS very long.
We bought our Roo 23SS, in our 50's.
Had it 10 years and loved it. But we retired in 2014 and the DW wanted a walk around bed and something better for rainbirding (the Washington version of snowbirding).
Even though I still love sleeping under canvas and don't mind the setup, we moved to a rear kitchen TT.
For the 10 years I was a hybrid owner, I bad mouthed "shoebox" travel trailers.
We miss the openness of our Roo but our TT is definitely better for 3 month trips, covering a couple thousand miles.

I still like to have 3 double beds in a camper, and I can't have that in anything but a Roo!

Sorry to hear you're not happy with your camper! We love the openness/breezes that the tent beds offer, and with the 23IKSS, we have plenty of counterspace (relatively speaking!). But I guess the beauty of there being SOOOOOO many camper options is that you can certainly find something you'll enjoy more. :-)

On a positive note, it sounds like you know what is important to you and what is an inconvenience. This should help in your search for that perfect next unit. I doubt that there are many on this forum that found the perfect one the first time out. Take your time and get what you want not what the salesman wants to sell you.

I'm under the impression you never had a tent or popup before.
Most people who own an hybrid know the pluses and the minuses of an hybrid. The feel of sleeping under canvas is something you'll never get in a travel trailer..
I'm 65 and soon 66, and not in the best of health, but we're on our third hybrid. The set-up and tear down are so easy nowadays......no bungies or poles, and with the help of my wife, it takes at the most ten minutes to set that thing up.....Love it !
But like Flybob says: If it's not for you......then find something that will suit your needs.
Wish you the best
Dre

...or if you have, and moved to a tt and then back to a hybrid, I can understand how you feel.

To me, there's nothing like sleeping in the bunks during a soft rain storm, on a cool night with the mattress heater plugged in; snug as a bug in a rug.
I do miss it.

Having been there going from tent to pop up to hard side I can honestly say that I don't miss the days of sleeping under canvas. If you do decide to sell the hybrid and upgrade I feel that you won't be sorry.

Hey, many of us didn't get it right on the first try. Now you have a better idea of what you want.

I only wish they had hybrids 25 years ago when our kids were little. It would have been the best of both worlds.

25 years ago we were in a pop up. It was a huge improvement over camping in a tent and we loved it. As we grow older we have to take the "roughing it" out of camping. We love our hard side TT with a slide out. So much easier to set up and we have all the luxuries of home.

The new hybrids are just about as easy to setup than a TT. Bring the doors down and you're good to go, and have all the luxuries of home......plus two queen size beds, which you won't find in a TT

I looked at the Roo's this spring. All used and 4-5 years old. All had water damage around the bunk area and the opening......I dropped that idea immediately.

We have been through the natural progression also....tent, pop up ( 2 ) ...hybrid. Last week just bought a shoebox, to steal Dan's term.
Set up was never a problem. I'm 70 and set up takes me 5..6 minutes longer than a TT. Only issue for us was the bed. One of the many benefits of getting older is more trips to the John. At night, that means someone is crawling over the other.
Our maiden voyage starts in 3 hours. I just hope the new one is as trouble free and as well constructed as our Shamrock 23ikss.

I agree with you! The 23IKSS offers exceptional counter space with the luxury of a full bath with enclosed glass shower doors. We love ours! Not to mention how roomy it is. I wouldn't go any other way for now. We love the set up. It's part of the whole experience! I wish you many years of happy camping [emoji2]
