I'm new! Ordering a 2012 Roo 25RS

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. My husband and I fell in love witht the Roo 25RS at the camper show last week. We will be meeting with the dealer again in the next couple weeks to pick out our options/interior colors. They expect delivery to be end of April or early May.

Does anyone own one of these? What are your likes/dislikes? Any advice on options? I know the package that comes with it includes the power awning, tv, and power tongue jack. I'm not sure what else, we will have to find out when we officially order it in 2 weeks.

I was a little concerned with how narrow the bunks are. Our kids are little (3 yrs and 22 months) so I'm not worried about their sizes yet. Has anyone run into problems with that?

We are also looking for recs on hitches. We are also getting a Ram with the outdoorsman package soon. We aren't racing yet since the camper won't be ready for a while.

I think that model is either new or resurrected from a number of years ago so you would be one of the first on this forum to have the latest generation of the 25RS.

Most people or maybe everyone gets convenience package C. I also opted for the slide toppers and power jack and highly recommend both of these items. Its debated often on this forum, but I like the power awning option vs a manual. We have the oven. That's debatable, too.

We also questioned the useability of some of these narrow bunks when we looked at similar models. We concluded that 26" and 42" wide bunks are narrow but young kids should be fine with them.

I would imagine that even my kids would be fine at their current ages and they are ages 6, 8, and 10 so you would get plenty of use out of it before they are outgrown.

Just don't ask an adult or anyone close to 6' tall to sleep there, though.

I responded to your hitch question in your other post, but I recommend that you consider Equal-i-zer or Reese Dual Cam. These are the two most popular for your size trailer it seems. Blue Ox and Andersen are worth considering.

most Roo owners here have the hybrid Roo, not the hard bed-slide Roo.

we love our Roo and the majority of Roo owners are happy with them.

Plenty happy with my 21SS and really like the 25RS. Looked at another manufacturers end of last season (FR didn't make one). I will be seeking this one out in the near future.

We have the little brother, 2010 21rs with the bunks unlike the2012 version.
We really like it the rear slide means that you can get the tt into small spots easily then push out the slide. I see that the 25rs has a side slide as well which is a big plus!!!
The bunks are fine for our 3 year old he absolutely loves sleeping in the bottom bunk, havent tried in the top bunk yet. His little sister is just coming up on a year old so this summer he will get to try. We are a little concerned about the ladder that comes with the trailer for getting in and out of the bunk, but hopefully he will get the hang of it.

One thing I would say is that the bunks get really hot in summer, we are going to install a little 12v fan just to keep the air moving in there for the little guy.

My sister bought an Outback last year with the exact same layout at the 25RS. It has a few more perks, but not worth the 10k more they spent on it.

Same reason we didn't by the other one! Nice but not worth the extra. We really like our hybrid too.

I agree with Buzzmonster. We have a 2009 21RS and love the thing! For us we wanted a HTT that was fairly easy to tow with our Jeep GC and yet had all the room we needed for our family of four. Our oldest is 10 now, and we've yet to receive a complaint about the bunks. While we do enjoy having a hard-side travel trailer that's the size of many hybrids, I do miss sleeping under canvas. Just not the same feel when you're entirely encased in fibreglass. But then again, we do live and camp in grizzly country and do enjoy the (most assuredly false) sense of security over our previous pop-up trailer.

One tip I have for our rear slide unit is try not to operate the slide on only battery power, it'll drain a 12v substantially. If we don't have power at the site, we'll hookup to the tow vehicle again before operating the slide-out in order to reduce the drain on our battery.
