Picked up 2016 183 a couple of weeks ago and just had our first heavy rain storm..... all 3 beds leak and it looks like it's comming top seal area and working it's way down. I thought they got this figured out already. Not impressed with shamrock latching system.

Make sure there is no tent fabric caught in the door. The camper should have seen some wet weather between date of manufacture and now. You do have a warrantee issue. Just see if it was an owner oops first.

Did a test myself with a hose with door in closed position and it leaked.

I thought that choosing a hardside would eliminate possible leaks, but not so lucky. My new Flagstaff has a leak around a roof window.

All 3 are leaking? That seems crazy...something has to be closed in there??? Mine don't leak a drop with the new style seals. To have all 3 leaking seems nearly impossible if they are closed right. I sure hope it is something simple like that.

My first move would be to remove all mattresses, do the fantastic fan close carefully tucking fabric, and retest.

I did test with mattress removal and do the fantastic fan trick. It just seems the plastic hinge system doesn't compress that well. Is there any type of adjustment?

Looks like I'm going to have to fabricate a gutter system above the upper seal area.

No, not really any adjustment. I think the compression is purposely very light as you are just relying on the rubber gasket lightly sealing all the way around. Maybe there was a bad run of seals and they just need to replace the seal on all 3 of them? I don't think the actual closing system itself is problematic as even though mine doesn't close tightly it is still a dry seal all the way around.

That pvc/hose mod is a great idea either way...I have that on my list as preventative medicine.

Dropped 16k on something that's leaks stinks.....I prefer the gutter system due to not having to remove the pvc to open the doors?

Is it brand new? I mean is it possible there WAS something caught in the openings at some point and it caused the gaskets to deform a little bit? Maybe they will smooth out or new gaskets would fix it?

Yes, brand new/ even with new seals after a major rain I'm going to wonder if it leaked. I guess I'm suffering from trama....lol.

If it makes you feel any better, every new camper has some issue. They are complicated little houses. My 2016 183 leaked the first time it rained, and then never again. But my toilet needs fixing.

Did you do anything special to stop the seal leak?

My dealer recommended installing a gutter system above the bunks. It's basically the same channel used along the sides with its own little downspouts. Seems to work great. Not any water inside (yet). Actually there was none before so this was a preventive measure. I had the dealer do it because I didn't want to drill holes in my new unit. My opinion....the factory should install them during the build. Why have gutters over the mostly solid sides and none over the ends where water intrusion is more likely?
