Install fantastic fan ourselves..warranty?

Does installing one of these in the existing vent void the 1st year warranty? We'd have to pipe into the nearby ceiling light to do this. Just want a 3 speed manual fan with reverse.

Warranties are generally for their product against defects in materials for the specified time. I doubt that the verbage has specific language that if "self installed" voids a warranty.You good to go.

DH was going to install the fan but it would have involved removing the old vent housing. He thinks that if we were then to have a leak in the vicinity of where that roof vent is that may be a reason for any warranty claims to possibly be disallowed.

So we're forking out the $452 Cdn to have a Fantastic Fan 3 speed manual with Reverse installed at the dealer before we pick it up. We also wanted to cover all 3 vents with Maxxair vent covers in smoke colour. Dealer wanted way too much so we ordered 3 of them from Amazon and DH will install those as they don't require any drilling or attaching to the roof, and it's also much cheaper with no labour. Labour is about 5-10 mins work per vent anyway.
