I have the hardwired 30 amp and do get a hum. Not noticeable when the ac is on or a fan which we always use at night. Was going to call PI to see if the hum is a concern. Mine is wired so it protects from both shore and Gennie.

unfortunatley if the trailer burns and its electrical in nature ... i'm SOL
if someone gets hurt I'm worse that SOL

and I get a hum like noise (EMS not wired yet) when my outdor and indoor light switches are on coming from the fuse box convertor area.
actually its more like something is going around and around.

P.I. includes a blue jumper wire to bypass the EMS. It's not mentioned in the manual but there is a video online and if you call them with a problem they will walk you through installing the jumper wire. It's not as convenient as the plugs but a lot cheap and less rewiring. You could make your own bypass switch with a rocker switch a couple lengths of wire with 1\4" female terminals as well.

I installed mine yesterday and am camping with it for the first time today. I don't get any sort of hum from the unit. You may want to give PI a call and ask about it.

Quick question. When doing the hard wire install like turbs, can you use L6-30 plugs instead of L5-30? Only difference is the L6-30 plugs are rated for 250v. Of course they would only be used for 120v.
