The ends (sides) pull off. If you look at the side edges against the cabinet you'll see a couple of slots you can push in tabs and then pull the end cabs forward and off. Then you'll see the square drive screws holding it in. You'll need a long screw tip as the heads of those screws are recessed back in a good bit.
If your checking polarity you need to also pull and check the speakers, don't assume they connected anything correctly. To check exterirs you need to cut the caulk and recaulk them with Proflex.
