Is it spring yet?

So how's everyone coping with winter? I'm hoping to go out camping for Easter, anyone else have early spring plans yet?

I am counting the days until my new Rockwood 2702SS comes in for me to pick up. I have already paid for a seasonal site in NE Ohio and have several trips planed to Silver Lake Dunes MI, Lexington KY, Evansville IN and hopefully a few more.

I usually plan my first trip for the first or second weekend in March. I'm not sure yet, but I might camp next weekend. The next weekend looks more likely. Oh heck, why not both?

been there a few times lately - heading back for more

the season is comming - if the conditions are right
The Famous Wildflowers of Borrego
Weather & Timing Matters
Listen to NPR comments about the FLOWERS

When will the flowers bloom? None of us knows for sure. Each year's bloom is unique in its variety, profusion, and timing. From late February through March, you can find blossoms on the desert floor. Rain is needed in small doses throughout the winter. Too little rain provides a poor climate for seed germination. Too much rain, and the seeds could rot or be washed away. Showers too early or too late in the season may not help the flowers bloom.
Temperature is also critical. Warm days are a good indicator of a full bloom ahead. If the sun gets too hot though, (over 85° in February / March) the seeds may become parched and seedlings scorched. Cool nights can assist flower seedlings by slowing the growth of competitors like grasses and mustards. However, very cold temperatures mean bad news for blossoms.
Along with all of these factors, the wildflowers must contend with the desert winds. Hot, arid winds may dry out the seeds before they have a chance to grow. High winds during the bloom may scatter the pollen before the next year's seeds have been produced.

To plan your visit to coincide with the peak of the bloom, take advantage of our Wildflower Postcard Notification service. For up-to-date information, call our Wildflower Hotline which is updated weekly.
If you should happen to miss the peak, take consolation in the fact that you've missed the peak crowds as well. A tranquil walk through the Anza-Borrego Desert will reward you any time of year.

Make plans now to spend time this spring in Beautiful Borrego. Reserve a room now at one the many fine lodging establishments in Borrego Springs before the rush begins.

We ordered our Roo 25RS today and it's est. delivery of April 18th. We are hoping to go the second weekend in May. It's my nephew's birthday and he loves having the party at a campground. Last year they had it a Lakeport, so maybe we will go somewhere else this time.

I was told that April ship dates will still be titled as 2012. I noticed your signature line says 2013. Did your dealer tell you different.

Forest River is no longer making the 2012 Roo 25RS. They sold a ton of them and are moving up to the 2013. Maybe it's just that model, I have no idea. I wanted the 2012 because it was $600 less, but we couldn't. The only change is they made the outdoor table and grill standard...totally not worth 600 bucks! I know someone else who just ordered the same camper and they are also getting the 2013. I supposed I should call Forest River on Monday to make sure our dealer isn't screwing with us though. Thanks for the heads up.

Our first "reservation" weekend is the second weekend in April, but I am sure the new rig will hit the road for a shake down within the next couple of weeks. Maybe a trip to Chattanooga, never been camping in the southeast part of the State.

Our first reservation isn't until Memorial Day week but depending on weather will probably go out before then. We're thinking about Easter weekend at a nearby campground.

"Da Bus" is still at the dealers awaiting some parts. It's been there 2.5 weeks and I miss it! Are they checking on it? Do they go in & pat the cushions and open the cabinets? Do they just stand back & look at it? Is it wet or cold? Do they look in the storage bins & think about what needs to be replenished? Is it lonely? Does it miss us like we miss it? Fingers crossed that we can get it this coming week!

As for spring...YES...it's here. I know because my horse is shedding heavily, the Amish are tapping maples & the sandhills are flying north. We have a few crocus that have popped out and have even seen honey bees from our neighbor's hives!

Our first full week is in May, but we'll do what we always do and play it by ear between mid-March and May. Maybe do a weekend or two if the temps are high enough.

The weather around here is fickle in the best of years and this year has seen more changes than ever from unseasonably warm and dry to heavy snow and wind. That's what we get for living in WI.

But, I'll probably dewinterize earlier than usual just to have some fun with projects and do some backyard camping with the kids, which is always good times.

out here in California, we've had Spring all Winter!
not much rain and lots of 70+ days in Jan and Feb., so far.
heck, it was 80 degrees a few days ago and that was in the SF Bay area.

We've had a lot of 50 degree days this "winter" Not too much snow, and it's suppose to be 40-50 degrees this week.

We will be hitting Buckeye Lake on the way back from picking it up next month and then have Harper's Ferry booked for the Memorial Day weekend. Gotta get on planning some more quick though before everything fills up.

Are you talking about the weather or the spring equinox where the sun crosses the equator? lol..Here in the Smoky Mountains the trees, meaning maples and sourwoods buds are turning red and a few are popping. The dafodils are saying hello and the temps like all winter have been mild. We had temps in the upper 60s on Thursday this past week. Last night it was 19 degrees though (lol)...Spring is on its way!
