One of the forum moderators runs this site:

Towing Planner - towing capability calculators

It provides a pretty good estimate of what you can tow, once you plug in your vehicle's numbers and some other information (like the total weight of all passengers).

In my case with my Ram 1500, after putting the whole family (including dogs) and some groceries in the truck I lost about 1/2 my towing capacity. I would never have realized that if not for calculators like these.

I dont like "P" rated tires myself for towing, LT tires would make it less squirmy.
That said, imo I think you would be wanting to truck up before to long.
LT tires are nice, but not available in sizes for all vehicles. I wish I had gotten them, but I only tow a small percentage of time. I had the choice of 2 LT tires and many many P rated.

Just remember if you get close to your limits you can be in for some less than enjoyable experiences. Understatement. Try to give yourself as much as you can. It's one of those things you don't want to skimp by on.

I still think they will be fine. If they are a little over, so be it.

I remember before the Internet, there use to be campers smashed up and broken down all over the hiways because people towed over their limits. Who else remembers that?

Tongue weight has not been mentioned either, that needs to be factored in and a WDH adds another 100lbs to the TW, tow weight and payload.

My family of 6 (Me, DW, 3 kids, and Grandpa) all piled into my Nissan and took the 183 to Utah last week. Space was fine in the 183. Just have the kids pack in small duffels. Now, your Acadia is a very different beast. I think it's a unibody? It probably weighs 500 to 700 lbs less than my Nissan, so it might feel a little squirrely. I have WD and Sway, and you MUST have that.
