It's been bugging me !!!!

Why is it the black tank is the same size as the grey.
The grey tank will fill must faster than the black.... which can take a week to fill.
Would it be hard for factories to install a smaller black tank and a bigger grey tank !!! And if weight is an issue, why not a small black one and two medium size grey tanks connected !!!!!

Let's see what the folks on this forum have to say about this issue !!!

My Black and Gray tanks are each 30 gallons and that's the way I like it. The Gray tank fills much faster, of course. But, I'd rather dump the Gray tank 10 times into a tote than I would the Black tank once.

Drenjoey.......

Don't be so hard on yourself....

There is probably only one reason that they go with the same size tanks all around..... it makes it easier for the manufacturing.

My 5th wheel has 37 gal blk, 2X 37 gal grey , and 43 fresh.
However, the fresh water tank is 37 gal.. 'but' I have been corrected in the past to include the water in the hot water tank to be included in the 'fresh water count'.

On a chance of getting too personal....... when you say ..."the black.... which can take a week to fill"....
Lets be sure you are using "plenty" of water during your flushes.

By using lots of water (unless you are boon docking) it will help eliminate problems with plugging and help when dumping the tank.

When it's time to dump the black tank...I always fill my black tank via the rinse connection and keep it running during the 'dump cycle'.
I will close the gate valve...fill tank... and dump again....when at CG's.

Hope this helps

Our grey tanks usually fill faster too but in a pinch I've used a 5-gallon bucket to empty some of the grey tank & then walk it around and pour it into the toilet/black.

I don't want to even think about doing that the other way around!

Our configuration gives us...FW - 60...GW - 70...BW - 35

This was actually one of the things I was looking for in a unit and one of the reasons we choose this one.

Haha sorry you are correct. However I do still have my hybrid and that has very small tanks that I always felt I had to empty in the tote...I believe they are close to 20-30 a piece...it was really a pain sometimes though...I feel like it was a 2 to 1 empty ratio...

Are you talking about hybrid TTs or all RVs?
Cause some of the responses are from those with other larger RVs, that do have gray tanks that are bigger than their black tanks.

IMHO, hybrids have size limitations, so they have to make compromises for all three tanks.
