Just signed papers for a 23ikss

My first post was last year asking if anyone had seen the 23ikss. We signed the papers last week at the Raleigh RV show, and pick it up next week!

Thanks, and congrats to you too! Just got back from the last trip to Boone, NC with the popup. Hope to squeeze in a trip to the Outer Banks with the Shamrock!

Nice. Couple nights in the driveway is a great way to test everything out before heading down the road. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we have ours. OBX KOA is on the top of list for destinations next year.

With the beautiful weather today, we sat around camp (driveway) and cooked. Love the camper! When we go to OBX, we stay at Frisco Woods.

We too just purchased a 23 IKSS and will pick it up Wednesday. We traded our HW27SC for this unit. The pop up was really great but too much work for the one nighters to and from our destinations.

Hopefully I can tow it okay. We had to get a different vehicle for this one, a Ford explorer. I only had 2,000 miles of towing a camper so this should be interesting. We plan to head to Georgia to visit the grandchildren and then visit some friends in Virginia on the way home.

I'm sure you will love it. Hoping to trade up to one soon. I hope your explorer is up to the task of towing. Its a heavy tt and most explorers do not have the heavier tow package.

x2!!
i hope your Explorer is the one with the v-8, otherwise you won't have that Explorer very long!
i owned a v-6 Explorer and there's NO WAY i'd tow a 23IKSS with one. we got rid of ours because we wanted the 23SS which weighs even less than yours and got an Avalanche to tow it, with the 5.3 v-8.

It's a V8 4.6/281, Eddie Bauer edition Explorer. Our dealer said it would be fine, sure hope he is correct! He was with the Trailblazer.

If not, I guess we would be vehicle shopping again. I'm not giving up that kitchen area with the island!!! Can't wait to get going and cooking.

dudleydoo, how did it go at you PDI? Post us an update. We camped last weekend at Emerald Isle, NC. It was the first real camping we have done in it, and we had a few glitches. The water supply for the toilet leaked and the new oxygenics shower head went through the shower curtain. But we had a great time and loved the camper. My DW loves the kitchen island too!

Well, the Explorer was late as they received the wrong hitch. We just picked it up today and didn't have time to get the trailer. I had a dentist appointment and that's another long story and an expensive one! We should have put our sons through dental school here in Milwaukee.

Friday morning is the PDI and I am more than ready. I am not good at waiting for things once I make my mind up to purchase them. Also, I would like to get the trailer supplies, dishes, pots and pans, etc, out of the office.

I ordered and received 2 collapsible ottomans from QVC. One trailer we looked at had a sofa with 2 footrests so I substituted these and besides, they have storage space when in use.

Did you have enough storage in your unit? It sure looks like it does but like a basement, I'm sure one can fill it up fast. I'll keep an eye on the shower curtain when showering.

More tomorrow,

Bonnie

Don't trust the dealer, do your own homework and math. Check gfwr grwr gvwr gcvwr and tow rating as well as length of wheel base to length of trailer. I tow mine with a 5.3 v8 3.73 rear end tahoe with towing package and I am pushing it. I get so angry at dealers because of that. Jmho

Agree. I'm not sure of exact weight of new tt, but it could easily hit 6,000 lbs loaded. I expect the first tow home , they will know if they need a bigger tv. I'm sure someone from the weight police will chime in.

Thanks for the good wishes, and hope you get one.

They say we can tow 7200 lbs., so wish us luck. Hopefully I'll be back here Friday night to report on my towing with this unit.
