Leaking Bunk Seals

I posted the following thread over in the shamrock forum but beleive there is more roo owners so thought I would post it here along with a follow up question.

So it looks we have inherited a leak problem with our new to us 2003 hybrid. I gave it a good look over but did not noticed any water issues when we purchased it. After driving home in the rain today, we set it up and noticed the mattress was wet.

After researching on line and seeing that the front bunk leaking on these is common and reading about other peoples issues I went to take a closer look. Sure enough there is some softness(maybe 3 or 4" up from the bottom on one side)

I saw on this forum that there is a fix for this and was curious if this has solved the issue for other people. Also has anyone had to fix the softness on the front door, if so what did you do to fix it.

So I contacted forest river and there seal kit is not good for models earlier then 2005. They said I could buy some new seals and am wondering if that will help stop the rain from getting in.

They also said they could see me a new door, has anyone gone this route if so how was it putting the new door on.

Your best bet is to PM the owners in the threads you found in your search. Here's one thread Forest River HTT Bunkend Field Fix Kit

As I recall, the new seals were effective. Few members on the forum today can answer your question directly about the seal kit that FR was sending out, although I believe Bikendan had that kit installed. Shoot him a PM.

As for replacing the bunk, there are a few who have done it. I'd have to search and find those threads, though, but I'm on an iPad and it's a bit limited at the moment.

FR must be getting alot of e-mails on this exact question....I just sent the same and got the same response. I would be curious to know also if anyone replaced there whole bunk....we have decided to got this route due to the fact that our "door" looks like it is seperating around the metal frame in addition to leaking....so we are going to go this route..AND change to the latches.

please let us know how the door replacement goes along with the cost as my front bunk will need to be replaced due to the same issue, seperating around the metal frame and leaking. I have the latches but still have the same issue btw...

I will let you know/post on here. We arent planning on changing the door until the spring....and replacing the latches at that time also. for now I believe we are going to add som weather stripping around the front bunk...and cover it for the winter.
