Lippert Frameless window
I have one of the Lippert frameless windows on my 2017 233s, the one just above the sofa. The crank has vibrated open on me a couple of times while traveling allowing the window to flap open. I was poking around out there the other day and noticed the window was not shut again. The crank mechanism appears to be broke, wont put any tension on window to close it. I stumbled across this thread, does anyone know if the part numbers on the first post of this thread are Lipperts part numbers for this part or was it something specific to the dealership they bought it from?
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...9s-118135.html
I called Camping World we have here in town yesterday to see if they could order it for me and they were not showing anything matching those part numbers. They're supposed to contact Lippert today and get back to me. Im not thrilled with the idea of doing a warranty claim. The dealership I bought the camper from must assume all its costumers are morons and will not order and ship anything that would allow me to do the work myself. At least not with warranty claims. They want me to bring it in for every little issue so they can do the work. Problem is, they're a couple hrs away and after you figure the fuel for 2 round trips towing, I can probably buy several of these cranks. And who knows when they could actually get me in.

I must be a flaw in the design...I was driving on a windy day (I'm thinking the wind kept getting under it) and I noticed it(the window panel) flapping in the breeze...the metal the crank works with broke apart...it happened going on vacation..I taped the window closed and I was able to get to my dealer to have it fixed on the way home...it looks like it probably will happen again...I would like to see about changing it to be like the window on the slide out ...I'll check my paperwork for the parts number...I wanted to order it too rather than stopping at the dealer..but it worked out for me anyway

Page Title -Kinro windows and replacement parts
I could never correlate the dealer part numbers in my thread with the Kinro part numbers.
The numbers in my thread were Rockwood dealer part numbers and on the service order/receipt.
More info:
http://www.forestriverforums.com/forums/f228/frame-less-window-opening-on-its-own-121576.html
I have been using a plastic clamp on the window handle even though it was repaired, kind of a belt and suspenders thing. Don't want it to flap and shatter if the new mechanism fails. Its odd that it has only been that one window, some forum posters feel its a vent open versus vent closed thing while towing. I have not been able to verify this.

Unfortunately, camping world is about my only option. They are the only Forrest River dealer here in town. The next closest is the dealer I bought from which is about 2 hrs away. Problem is, I work 6-7 days a week from Christmas until about Memorial day. Im leaving a week before Memorial day to take the boy on a fishing trip to Minnesota and wanted it repaired by then. As I stated earlier, my dealer will insist on me bringing the unit in to them for warranty work. I cant get it there before they close if I leave right after work. Id have to take time off to get it there and again to pick it up, plus the cost of fuel Id be out several hundred dollars. I was just hopping to spend $50-100 bucks on the part and put it in myself.
Camping World did get back to me and said Lippert had no record of those part numbers so the ones I referenced from the other thread must be wrong, or dealer part numbers. I gave them some info on the unit. They were supposed to do some digging and get back to me but so far I haven't heard anything. So, in the mean time I decided to drill out the rivets and see if there was something I could do with it. Its already broke, cant break it more.
This is the mechanism. Its a 2 piece pot metal body that's held together with 3 alignment pins and a couple of interference fit dowel pins that go through the crank arms and are pressed to hold it together. The left dowel pin on mine broke. This left the crank arm to float around in the housing freely, it also caused the housing to flex open when cranking it enough to let the worm gear slip past the teeth on the crank arms.
So what I did was drill out the broken dowel pin and replaced it with a 8-32 bolt and nut. This seemed to work well, the mechanism appeared to work as it was supposed to. So then, I decided to drill the other one out as well and replace it with a bolt. It was probably just a matter of time before that one broke too. Then I got a little carried away and drilled out the alignment pins and tapped the holes out to accept a 6-32 bolt. I assembled everything with plenty of Loctite. I also threw some fresh grease on the worm and crank arm teeth.
After I ground down the bolt studs I touched it up with a little black paint to hide the repair. The mechanism feels tighter than it ever did, and works perfectly.
I installed it with SS bolts and nuts instead of rivets. I'll try it out next week on the way to Minnesota. As long as it doesn't open up on me on the way there, im going to call it a win.

Can't help you with that one, I haven't come across it yet. Every forum uses their own lingo. I'm also on a beer brewing forum, they don't use the term DW. In stead they use SWMBO. it stands for "she who must be obeyed". Took a while to figure that one out.

Thanks Finster for posting the repair process with pictures. Someone will benefit from that in the future. Wonder if the thread can be renamed to something like "frameless window failure and repair" for the next person who it happens to. I wish the search function gave you results in chronological order with a "most recent first" option.

"rolfblack" is the word in your message that tells the computer to make this image:
If the colons are removed, it gives you the word instead of the image. roflblack

Also, "rofl" means "rolling on floor laughing. Don't know why they added "black" to it. Probably so if you just typed ROFL it wouldn't insert the pic.
(And just noticed I misspelled it in the first line of my post above, probably because you misspelled it in your post.)

This seems to be an issue only on the Roo or Shamrock 233. Why do you not read about it on other models as that exact LCI window is used on many other trailers?
Looking at those pictures it may be because it's located right behind the awning arm on the 233S. That arm could be causing turbulence making the window vibrate, which in turn vibrates the mechanism causing it to loosen. That's just an idea. Someone with the problem should experiment with it. Perhaps mount a small piece of aluminum angle with 3M tape to the face of that awning arm and see if altering the airflow around it makes a difference?

Frameless Windows
I have this same windows on my 2015 Class C and hate them. Every one of them leaks air and "flaps" when highway driving. We've added extra seal material to try and combat the problems. That has helped, but we've gotten to a point that we finally got the windows closed and sealed, and now we do not even open them. In fact, haven't had them open for two years now.
I want to be able to open all the windows when we're camping in nice weather, but afraid they won't close right. At this point, I've actually started considering how we can replace them with standard, sliding windows. Have no idea where or how this could be done, but we're beyond frustrated with these things and have given up on them.
Has anyone actually had these replaced or are considering doing so? I'd like to hear details or thoughts from others.

Im not sure if the issue is confined to the 233S. Maybe it just comes up so often with that model due to its popularity. Im not sure what metalmike57 has. Looking at the one outside photo of his camper, it may be a 233S. Toad Haul states he has the issue with a class C. JandS is the OP of the original thread I referenced, and had the issue with a Mini-Lite.
It does seem to be the front window, though regardless. I've never had issues with the other two crank windows near the sink and range. Those two are actually stiff and hard to open.
