locking bunk ends?

I am new here, so be easy on me.

I can't seem to lock the bunk ends on our 23ss. I have all the keys that the dealer gave me, but they don't work in the bunk locks. I assumed that they were keyed the same as the door, but the key won't turn in the lock. Am I doing it right? Do I have to stand on one foot and scratch my armpit at the same time to get the locks to turn?

Thanks for your help!

Bunk end locks do not use the same key as the door on my Roo. Door uses a key with a black square cover on it. If I remember correctly, the bunk end locks were trapezoidal shaped for the cover.

Post a pic of the different keys you have.

Two things could have happened. First, you may be using the wrong key. I have had some of the locks on my latches replaced after they failed or fell out and so now half my latch locks can be opened with my door key while the others cannot.

Second, these locks are really cheap and it could be something is wrong with the tumbler. Like I said I have had them fall out, but also rust up and other problems and generally don't trust them.

Come to think of it, the darn locks have been my one persistent headache with this trailer (small potatoes, I know). Anyway, I opt not to lock the latches anymore since I store at home.

On my 23SS, the keys for the door and bunk end locks are different. In the beginning I locked the bunk ends, but now after five years and thousands of miles I do not and have not locked the bunk ends. Have no problems, just make sure the clamps are latched securely.

I'm not worried about them coming open on the road, I just wanted to lock them up when I leave it at the storage yard.

I definitely got door keys and storage hatch keys, but none for the bunk ends. I will double check the keys when I load it up for the maiden voyage this weekend.

I may just have to get them re-keyed to match the door.

thanks for your help!
