Looking at the Barker VIP3500 electric jack

To replace the one that came with my 2014 233s. I tried to reply to a thread via search but it said I couldn't reply because the thread was so old. Anyways, does anyone know which one I should get? The 3000 or the 3500? I'm a little concerned about the height.

I know Triguy stated he had one on his 233s Shamrock, does anyone know if there are any differences in bunk height to frame with the 2014 Roos?

I contacted Barker and they said they need 23" of clearance for their jacks. I can't measure the distance from the bunk to the A frame because it's at the dealer right now. I guess I'll run to the dealer possibly this weekend and take a quick measure.

I can't help you with measurements, but I have run Barker jacks for several years now and they work great. All of my campers will always have them. They look about 50,000 times better than the Lippert ones, too, IMO.

I went ahead and ordered it. From what I've been researching here, it'll fit and nothing but good things about them. Looking forward to installing it here in the next week or so!

They are great units...you won't be disappointed. I've had a 3500 for three years now.

I think the two models have different tube diameters. 2 inch and 2 1/4 inch.

X2 - make sure what your current diameter jack is to make sure you are buying the right size replacement.

Yea the dealer measured it and said it was 2 1/4" so I ordered the 3500. Should be coming in today.

I ordered the 3500 today as well. I'm tired or cranking the jack up and down for the weight distributing hitch!

I'm pretty sure that Husky is made in China, just like everything else out there except the Barker. I'll stick with the VIP 3500.

You are correct. I checked with the manufacturer and they are made in China. I found it on sale locally at less than half the price of a Barker - couldn't get a Barker locally so I would have had to pay a lot for shipping. With a claimed strength of 4500# vs the 3500# of a Barker jack, I had no reservations buying it. I had it for 3 years before I sold it with the Roo and it worked flawlessly. It's a very solid product.

I'm sure Barker makes a good jack but don't automatically discount a product just because it was made in China.

I got the Barker VIP 3500. I'll be picking up the trailer from the dealer tomorrow afternoon and installing it myself. Shouldn't be too hard from what I've been reading.

You're in Ontario, so I guess they're both imports to you! On a serious note, Chinese made products-pretty much everything but electronics and a lot of those- have been very hit and miss for me. I'm glad you had good luck from your Husky, but there have been MANY complaints about Chinese made jacks. With a Barker, I KNOW I'm getting a good product. I will have to pay more for it, but that's what happens when you have a company with regulations paying their employees maybe $10 an hour competing with one that has no regulations and might pay an employee that in a week. I won't go broke trying to buy American, but if there is a superior product made in the US I will go that route. Keep in mind that there is no oversight on that weight rating on your jack. Is it REALLY almost 1/3 stronger than the Barker??? I venture that if you have a trailer tongue the VIP3500 won't lift, you've got on the Husky 4500 won't lift, either. Just my .02.

3 bolts (9/16" head, IIRC) and one wire is all. Make sure to remove paint at the bolt per the instructions for proper grounding.

I'm willing to pay a bit more for good quality if I'm convinced there is enough value and the company will support the product. I agree that the quality of Chinese made products can be hit and miss. I had no illusions about the claimed strength of the Husky jack. I figured that if it's made in China and it's rated for 4500#, it should be good for at least the standard 3500#. I'd be reluctant to buy a Chinese jack site unseen but having had a chance to examine it in the store it didn't give me any concerns. And Husky is a well known, reputable company.

We have the 23ss and the Barker 3,500 fit perfectly, however you should remove the leveler from the top of the jack, before lowering the bunk. There is clearance until you lay on the bunk. The four points will touch the door and leave dints. I know because I did.

Installed the jack and it's to tall. I have to remove the level and the piece the level sits in to fold the bunk down. Once I do that, the bunk is pretty flush to the top of the jack. Considering going down to the 3000 as they're a little shorter. Thoughts?
