Ok, ok...The Stuff wins the prize , but that windchill factor only applies if your skin is exposed to it...if you are in a tent or TT or RV, it aint windy inside...just say'n. it is still darn cold though...

We started our backpacking trip this past December at Smokemont Campground in Great Smoky Mountains National Park and it was 6 F!!!, but not real windy...

The next question is... what is the coldest yall have camped in without the comfort of a heater?

Since moving here to the mountains, we really enjoy going to the Smokies and camping after the crowds have gone in November and the heater in the camper makes it quite comfy for sleeping...we typically set in the 60s, not 72...lol...dont want to run out of propane...

Have been winter camping in Feb. with the Boy Scouts. Slept in leanto with straw for ground cover. The temp was -10f at night. Had a sleeping bag rated for -40 did not feel cold. Only cold when striping off cloths to get into bed and again in the morning. We were teaching the youth what to do if they were to get lost in the woods. We even had a wild game dinner, (rabbit, porcupine, beaver, muskrat ect.) all small game was provided by MNR.

Yep, we were out in Penticton BC the same weekend at an old timers soccer tournament we play in every year. It was -10c overnight (that's about 14f for those down south), dry camping, but the furnace, heated holding tanks and heated mattress past the test.

-44c in a tent with no floor, slept on air mattress. That's -47F for our southern friends. Thankfully the next two nights were about -34. That was 30 years ago though! Now days I'd burn the tent to stay warm! LOL! When your in the armed forces, they make you do insane things.
