Mattress Damp

I noticed on my last camping trip that the underside of my mattress was damp. What's a good material to put down and stop the dampness on the mattress?

Assuming this on the tent end beds, the problem is condensation forming. It is a factor of the temperature differential from inside the unit to the bunk end materials. Since the problem is really airflow (or the lack thereof) any material you put down is just going to mask the problem. Best advice is to routinely prop the mattress up to allow airflow underneath when you are not sleeping in the beds.

condensation under the mattress happens when warm bodies sleep on a platform that's cold.
i've tried different things and a wool blanket seems to help. i tried Reflectix, which didn't help with condensation.

I second damp rid. I keep it in several places in our RV 365/24/7. Moisture from the inside (cooking, breathing even, and humidity) can be destructive over time...same as rain or moisture from the outside or a leak.

I have a 23IKSS trailer. I have a small dehumidifier I keep running at night which collects a lot of moisture out of the air. I'll try the wool blanket and flip the mattress during the day.

Evadry makes a small, very quiet de-humidifier that we like. It takes a load of moisture out of the air. At night, we move it near the head of the bed to compesate for the moisture in exhaled breath. This has made a major difference by eliminating moisture on the insides of windows in the mornings. The unit I have costs about $60.

Photobill, besides the good advice you've already got, make sure to crack vents and/or windows at nights even if its cold. As mentioned, people breathing at night expel a lot of moisture into the air. Vents and airflow are key for our family of 5 (plus dog).
