Messy silicone on tent end? Roo 183

We just signed for a very lightly used 2019 Roo 183. The one thing that caught our attention was the rather messy looking application of silicone at the corners of the tent end. The dealer was not sure if this was from the factory or if the old owner did it. We would be concerned if this was an owner repair for some type of *fault*.

What do you all think? We have 2 days to back out...

The silicone doesn't look too messy to me, but I agree it could have been done better. My 2016 had silicone in the corners from the factory, but not that much.

The previous owners may have added more. Check out the thread at the link below regarding bunk canvas.

Completely normal. I add silicone to ours about every six months, doesn’t look any better when I do it. [emoji13] That is not an issue to worry about if looking to buy.

normally not worried about canvas coming undone and let anything roll out, at least not since about 2012 when they change hybrid bunk design...

You should see a "How to take care of canvas" from the mfg. Be sure to wet the threads of the tent end material to swell the threads to seal off the needle holes left over from sewing BEFORE tenting in the rain!

Just picked up our 2020 23IKSS and it has the same stuff on the corners of the bunks.

Normal issue but as I found out last season if it is not sealed properly it will let water enter the bed area.

We add silicone to those corners twice a year to keep water out

My 2018 24WS Roo came brand new that way. Looks sloppy, but you can't seal it without a good sealer or adhesive build up. Normal maintenance would require attention to these points regardless of how neat factory job was.
