Mirrors and customer service

Picked up our new Roo 19 today. The trip home was rather unnerving, first time pulling something this big (upgrade from popup) on I-294 in Chicago at rush hour, but made it home okay. One thing I need is mirror extensions. Ordered the CIPA model that was selected for my 97 Chevy Express van on their Amazon store, however, they did not fit, even though the box said 1996-1999 Chevy full size vans. So had to return and am now looking for something else. Any suggestions about the strap on types?

Had a problem with the counter top on the PDI, the edge laminate had been spliced close to one of the corners and had come undone. Rockwood replaced counter with an edge that match the table top, which seems to be more durable. So first experience with customer service was good.

Got about 5 weeks to get to really know this camper before hitting the campgrounds!

Look at McKesh for your mirrors. Easy on and easy off and they provide an excellent rear view. McKesh Mirrors | Hensley Hitch Towable Products
Congrats BTW for towing I-294 in Chicago during rush hour. That's a sure test of towing skills .

Thanks for the mirror suggestion, is the cheaper version on the market that the website refers to talking about a similiar product from CIPA?

I used the slip-on CIPA mirrors when I was using my sister's Yukon to tow with. We couldn't never get them to fit with the inside attachment piece so I used them with out it.

Many strap on mirrors are of little use and can come off easily. If you do try them consider using a small bungee cord to secure them.

Have you consider upgrading your mirrors with towing mirrors? Not cheap but I love mine.

Another vote for the McKesh - not cheap but good mirrors.

I also had bought CIPAs - bad idea for me too.

No paint damage and very little virbration if any.

Good luck.

I haven't had any luck finding 'towing' mirrors for this 97 Chevy van. I think they changed the mirror design on later models and those might be available, but I need to do some more research.

I see you have Shamrock 19, how does the Highlander tow it?

I have a pair of used McKesh mirrors that I used on my 2004 Express van for sale.

Tows fine.

I have an Equal-I-zer 600/6000 with OEM hitch, I pack light, only the 2 of us. Very little water.

Gas Tank is too small is my only issue.

Going on 3rd summer this year, did Toronto to South Carolina and Florida a few times, so I've tested it pretty good.

We bought the CIPA mirrors when we were considering towing with our '02 Durango, but we could never get them to fit, even after numerous calls to their customer service department. I was supposed to return them, but my procrastinating self never got to it, so now we've got a pair of CIPA 10500 mirrors brand new in the box. Don't need them now that we have the '06 Ram. Customer service told me they wouldn't fit on the 5x7 sport mirrors, but we don't have those kind of mirrors on our '02 D. It appears others were given a line of BS too. Lesson learned. Guess I'll throw them in the next garage sale we have or put them on Ebay.

I used Tow-N-See mirrors on my recent Ohio-to-Colorado trip and I thought they worked great. $20 each from WalMart. They suction onto your mirror glass, and I was happy to see that they didn't fall off once in spite of crazy winds and cold temps! Recommended.

jfguyer: Pick these up. I couldn't find a suitable set of mirrors for my 05 Ford Expedition. I purchased a set of used McKesh mirrors from a member of this forum and I'm tickled pink! Great visibility and easy to put on and take off.

I bought two of these as well. Haven't used them yet on a trip, but hope they work as well as they did for you. I didn't like the strap/loop/hook on type, or the prices. For a mere $20 a pop I'll be happy if these work just for this camping season .

make sure you have some kind of string, rope, strap to attach to those mirrors. We had one almost come off while on the highway (one of the kids put it on....) Now I just have kite string looped around truck mirror and tied to strap. Just in case.....

At least you were not on the Dan Ryan...... lol

Definitely not ready for the Ryan yet. I'm going to stick to the backroads of Indiana for a while yet.
