My Roo fail today & power tongue jack

I did a stupid thing today when I left the campground. Without realizing it I drove off with an X chock still between the tires. Thought the tow was a little sluggish at first. That was why. Didn't realize what I had done until I got home & went to put it on. Boy am I kicking myself now. Will need to replace it. The day just started bad right before I would have removed the X chock when the stupid Lippert tongue jack that came with the Roo decided to work off & on. Started to hand crank & then it would work enough to get it on the truck. I'm sure that distraction is what kept me from removing the X Chock. Hope you had a better holiday.

How much tire damage was there?

I did that with an X-Chock once. The thing launched itself through the air at about four feet above the ground and over the picnic table about twenty feet away.

I store the wrench on the floor of truck as reminder. I done this once my own self. I was lucky enough to see it come out in the parking lot.

I don't see any tire damage, so I hope there isn't any. Usually I put in an x chock on both sides. My wife got me some Anderson levelers for Christmas that I had to cut down to work & they were in the way of putting in the second one.

I'd have the axle alignment checked.

I hope all damage was small, years ago when I had a gn stock trailer and I was at the fair grounds someone had left a pitch fork leaning against the back of the trailer and when I went to back up the tines went into my trailer tire and I had a flat . One time the man door was not locked when I had cows loaded. So now when ever I have a trailer hooked up and ready to leave or move it I due a complete walk around. when I leave the campsite I do a walk around checking the hitch, tires, jacks, all compartments, door, antenna is down I look at everything making sure all things loaded, stored and locked

Stuff like this can happen to anybody. Let me tell you one of my many bonehead moves. I had to take my Flagstaff in for warranty work one time. I was in a hurry to hook it up and drive the 90 miles to my dealer before they closed....and was running late getting out of my shop.

Anyhow, as I am using the electric tongue jack to raise the trailer, so I could connect it to my truck, it seemed sluggish (we know that word, huh).

After I finally heard a loud crunching/popping sound from the rear of the trailer, I realized what had happened. I had forgot to raise up my rear electric stabilizers and they were all kind of bent up now. At that time I had an extremely loud LCI electric tongue jack, and it was hard to hear the stabilizers being bent up over how loud that thing was.

Fortunately, I have a great dealer, and they fixed the stabilizers when I had it in for the warranty work.

Main thing is to learn from it, and not let it happen again.

Forgot to loosen my JT Strongarms once and was wondering why my front jacks seemed to be struggling! I started to hear a horrible metal crunching sound and realized what I had done and stopped them, they had not gone very far. I looked real quick for any damage and everything seemed alright and was working fine. A couple weeks later I was doing some work inside the front compartment and noticed the front of the metal tray compartment had buckled about a half an inch! I checked it out closely and everything seems in good working order, so I put some expanding foam in the gap and called it a day! We all do something dumb once in a while!

We have all been distracted and forgotten something. Started leaving a campground when I saw something in the passenger mirror. It was my bumper mount bbq! I had put away the bbq but left the mount out. Only an additional three feet on one side-no big deal! Just happy I didn't clip anyone else's trailer or car!

Left our fav cg at the Cape. Went to the beach to enjoy one more day and not the two hour traffic to get off the cape. Decided to take some load off by lowering the tongue jack. After 5 hours in the sun, forgot the jack was down. Dragged a good 3 ft line in the pavement. No damage to the jack. So either summer soft black top or a really good jack.

Two weeks or so ago I had some AC leaking issues at a campground. I picked up the stabs and raised the nose to see if that would help drain a little. It didn't, so I eyeballed it back to level and lowered the jacks. When I went to leave, I was trying to remove the screw jacks I put under the frame in the middle and couldn't get them to budge. I sat there for 30 min trying to figure out how I was going to get them out since, surely, the trailer had somehow settled on them. Then I realized I lowered the front end farther than I had when I originally set them up and just had to jack the front up a little.....felt rather stupid.

Yes, after the fact (I bought the Bull Dog 3500 because I needed to fix it in the campsite), I found the replacement tube for $40 on EBay. But I am actually happier with the Bull Dog 3500. It's a little shorter and smaller head so the lift gate on my Suburban now clears the jack.

Well that's good. Nothing more frustrating than having to unhook to get into the back.

Some people will do anything to get their lift gate to clear!
