My Setup, An Oopsie, and Need Tongue Jack Recommendations

Finally set up the Roo to the new Ram EcoD. I used the old fashion tape measure setup. I am happy, what do you all think.

No Trailer
Rear 38 7/8"
Front 36 1/2"

Trailer NO WDH
Rear 37"
Front 36 3/4"

Trailer WITH WDH
Rear 37 1/2"
Front 36 5/8"

I found out that my trailer guy didn't think as hard as I did when putting on the DC brackets. Because of where some cross brackets are, either the cams would be too close too far back, or just barely making it. He chose the barely makes it. Well, I noticed my cams needed to go back more. Well, all I had to do was flip the brackets, and they were near perfect.

But, I had my jack down while doing that. I picked up all my tools, and went to move the truck forward to get it straight. OOPS. I got a U shaped jack. So, what are the recommendations for a power jack.

Numbers look good!

We too had our DC Srait-Line dealer installed. I was suspicious so took it all apart and reassembled/adjusted with fine tooth comb. Lo and behold... the dealer got it bang on!

Our LCI 3,500 lb electric tongue jack has performed flawlessly for five seasons. Blew the fuse once but that was my fault.

I have the the same setup you do with the ecodiesel but a 23ikss. Numbers don't look bad. I might suggest you put in some Timbrens in the rear suspension as it is very soft being a coil rather than leaf spring. I had some problems with it bottoming out on hard bumps with the trailer hooked up as well as the headlights being too high for oncoming drivers. Don't let the wdh numbers fool you as you will see how squishy it is when you tow. You can do a Web search for Timbrens if you have never heard of them but the ride when towing with them is fantastic! And they take 5 minutes to install. Oh, and enjoy the mpg with the eco. I average 16 towing compared to my 7 with my Toyota Tundra. Amazing truck!

I had the reese dual cam, if that's what you have, be careful flipping the brackets. If installed backwards then you can cause issues. That said, my old tt dealer (not gonna name any names but CW) did install my brackets backwards.

The frame plates/brackets on current generation DC Strait-Line WDHs are designed to go either way to accommodate different configs on the A-Frame portion of the TT's chassis. There is no backwards - just botched installations.

I have the brackets with the mount point forward. Reese installation instructions show it as optional.

Looks like a lot of people like the Barker. Is it called a barker because it sounds like a dog

Ours too and that's ok as long as the cam arm upper connection is ~20 inches from the center of the coupler's ball socket. That will afford the best adjustment range for the cam arms.

Indeed. If the LCI ever craps out, we'll probably start barking too.

If the cam arms are pointed in, it follows that the snap-up brackets would be pointed in too? Oooh - that's gonna be a PITA!

Should the hanger brackets be bolted into the TT?

The hanger brackets connect the cam arm to the chain and snap-up brackets. You're thinking of the snap-up brackets?

Got a Barker VIP (3500?). Can't remember exactly the # but they have great customer service and no issues with their products.

My Bad, yes Snap-Up brackets. Do they need to be bolted or welded to the trailer. Mine seem to slide although they are screwed down pretty tight.

Snap ups are usually held in by pressure of a bolt in the back. If you're are sliding, either the back bolt is not tight enough, or, you don't have enough links between your bars and the snap ups.
