Net weight

What is the net weight on a 1999 Rockrood Roo M-18? Im having problems registering the camper for the first time, as they keep telling me its over 3000 pounds and needs a title. But I beleive this camper to be in the 2600-2800 pound range... Altho this was a private purchase, the previous owners said they never had a title for it and they had it registered just fine. Thoughts?? (its in state of Maine)

Is there not a plate on it somewhere that provides the GVWR?
I believe that is what they want.

Yeah, I have seen that happen before.
In the "old" days they would stamp the numbers in, and it was visible a hundred years later. Then some genius decided that was too expensive, so they used vanishing ink.
I would try contacting Forest River, and they should be able to provide that info.

should be a white sticker, on the inside of a cabinet door, inside the trailer.
it's the factory UVW when the trailer left the factory.
it will have the actual weight including the weight of "options".
it will show the UVW, then water weight, then propane weight, leaving a net CCC leftover.
add all that together for the trailer's GVWR.

with a bogus "dry" weight of 2618lbs., adding for options, its UVW will be close to 3000lbs.
does Maine go by dry weight, UVW or GVWR of the trailer to require a title?

Maine goes by "net weight" which should just be the dry weight of the camper w/o propane, water, etc.

"dry" weight numbers technically mean a stripped-down version of the trailer.

here's a pic of my sticker, notice it refers to "UVW":

Sounds like you got a problem. I would ask the previous owner to copy his registration (if he really has one) and take that to the DMV.
