Has anyone considered, used, compared the Surge Guard products. It looks like they have a model that you plug into the tower or power at your campsite then plug your cable into that. Granted, it would be outside so could be stolen (they have a sort-of lock thingy) but it also means that I would not need to install something in my trailer. (I am decidedly NOT a geek or a DIY person.)

Progressive has a portable unit too. I believe SurgeGuard only protects against surges and that wasn't my problem in Provincetown.

Surge Guard says it also protects again "open neutral", "open ground" and thermal issues. Not that I know what any of those are. Though Camping World reviews (only 4) seem to indicate that theirs didn't last more than a season or two. Maybe being outside is not such a good idea.

Also compare warranty and support. I too was going to purchase a Surge Guard until I found Progressive.

Again, none were the issue I had. Mine was low voltage. Which could damage anything that has an AC motor like your a/c or microwave
