New 23ikss

Hello everyone,

Just bought a brand new 2013 23ikss, great deal on a close out of the 13's. No issues yet as it's winter and we can only stare at it and talk about the upcoming summer. Can't wait to start camping and get involved in the community.

Greetings from Knoxville,

eaustin

Congratulations! We are also sitting here looking out the window our 23IKSS and longing for camping weather (or even something above 0 degrees would be nice right now). We absolutely love that floorplan.

And in a strange twist - we were glad we got a 2013 and not a 2014. The 2014 has the LEDs under the awning, but it also has the new bunk end latches which look like they might not be as durable even though they are easier to reach. Plus they took the outside pass-through door into the kitchen cabinet out. That was one of the things we liked best. I can get bartending supplies, bbq utensils, and a few dishes from the outside. And I mounted a papertowel rack in there since I am notorious for making some kind of mess and asking my wife to hand me out paper towels "so I don't have to go in and take my shoes off."

I am going to steal your paper towel idea sir as it is brilliant. As my second mod, I would like to fit a keg under the island and put a tap handle on counter-top. Anyone taken on such a tast yet?

We bought a 2014 23IKSS in July and love it. We have the LED lights inside and out, power awning, gas grill etc. It does have the outside access to the kitchen cabinet and the 3 drawers left of the oven. Only got to use it 5 times last year but enjoyed it very much. So far no real problems with it except one with the lp regulator making excessive noise when the water heater was running. Dealer took care of it for us right away, said Forest River had a problem with a few of them doing this out of one batch but did not know for sure which trailers they got installed on. Not a safety hazard at all, just made more noise than it should have.
Right now ours is setting in the yard covered up waiting for spring.

Congrats on your new camper. We picked up our 2014 in June. We do have the kitchen pass-through. We have used it 7 times, 2 of those where over 1000 miles one way. Being in South Texas we are still camping. Did 4 days of dry camping around Christmas. Have a trip planned this month.

One thing you 2013 owners may have missed out on is the self adjusting brakes added to the axles. To find out contact the axle manufacturer and they can tell you by your axle serial number.

I also have a 2014 23ikss and I have the pass thru and all LEDs inside and out. I love this RV we had other hybrids and this one is by far the best! We camped about 8 times last year and I too am looking at it covered in the yard.

Congrats - you will love it! We bought our 2014 in April of 2013, and it came with the pass-through cabinet, led interior but not exterior, power awning, etc. It's interesting to see the variations that people received based on the month when they purchased it - shows the continual evolution over time. The pass-through cabinet is a must have in my opinion - makes bbq'ing tools easily accessible, and the Mrs. passes stuff through when I forget. We put 28 nights on ours last summer, in all types of weather, and in several different states in the northeast. Such a great floor plan, and I too am looking at mine covered in the yard yearning for spring. In the meantime I have next summer just about already booked up.
