New 23IKSS owner

Hello!
After more than a year trying to melt our brains comparing trailers/brands we just made a deposit on a 23IKSS.
The trailer is on the lot so the PDI is set for a tentative 4/1 date....
I have the PDI checklist .... any special/particular heads up when doing PDI on the IKSS???
What people use to carry bikes?
We need to carry 5 mountain bikes....
Is there a way to find out manufacturing date using the VIN?

I custom made a hitch for my 23ws out of an aftermarket F150 hitch using square tubing and angle iron, I found a couple of universal trailer hitches on line if you can't weld and fabricate that would be a good way to go, the best one I saw was around $300 bucks.
Only tip I have for you is go around and lube all your locks and also the main door latch, they will work very smooth after a little lube.

We've used a bike rack on the truck (3 bikes) and 2 bikes in the camper. The camper bumper isn't designed to mount a rack
The pdi check list is the best. I don't think you can get the air sofa bed anymore, but have them show you how the couch works.

If it's a lot trailer , there may be stains on the outside (tent canvas), we had them clean it and throw in a bottle of canvas cleaner.

Practice opening and closing the tent ends. I know, that feeling to hurry up and get it home is overwhelming, but mistakes can not only be an aggravation, but costly.

Usually the dealer extended warrantee isn't worth it. FR does offer a second year warrantee for $150.

Enjoy your first trip (most likely in your driveway).

Congratulations from a fellow ik owner. On the PDI, just take your time. Ask questions if you don't understand. Try to record portions that are confusing. You didn't indicate if this will be your first camper. If it isn't, the systems will be similar to what you currently have.
On bikes, you'll probably need to carry them in the bed of your truck. I'm not aware of any rack that will carry 5 bikes you can use. Search here. Someone posted maybe a year ago about a rack they made that fit in the truck bed. Looked good.
BTW, see you're a fellow Hoosier. Where are you getting your camper?

Any modification or added weight to the bumper, other than the spare tire, could void the frame warranty.
And putting 5 bikes on the rear bumper is just asking for disaster.
The best place for that many bikes, is either on top of the TV or in the truck bed if you have a truck.

And there aren't many bike racks out there capable of holding 5 bouncing bikes.
Remember your trailer has no shocks

Congrats on getting a great camper. Love ours. Suggest you research a thread titled, "My bike carrier mod for a Roo233S". Author developed a nice and cheap system for safely transporting bicycles in the RV.
There was a thread earlier today about finding the build date, but for the life of me I can't remember the title.

The build date will be on your sticker. Make sure you take pics of your stickers. And your plates. Makes life much easier when you're not running out to take a look when you have a question. (Plates come in handy when registering at cg's).

Of course, if you're Rainman, then nevermind..lol

The best place for bikes is a custom made hitch that is bolted or welded to your frame, you can haul them using your hitch mount bike rack, (ok unless you have a truck bed that would work just as well) my set up doesn't go any where near the bumper just a little under it. If you can fab or have a friend that can it is a great way to haul the bikes with no damage, I did it on a much smaller Hybrid for 6 years and no problems. And don't worry about the "frame warranty" when is the last time you had a frame break on something?? It is so nice to just shove your bike rack in the hitch and not worry about any inside damage etc.

Congratulations on you new Roo we just picked ours up last Friday and I can say don't let them rush you through the PDI take your time ask questions bring a cd and DVD to test the entertainment center take pictures if something isn't right and good luck

I do have a bike rack that carries 5 bikes but I guess I'll have to design and build the hitch for it in the trailer....

Here is what you need

Make sure you get the remote for the tv and the radio, there are two. Also, our bottom drawer of the refrigerator was cracked and didn't notice it till we got home. It just made it more difficult to get the replacement shipped to us. Not a huge issue but something else to check.

Like others have said, make sure EVERYTHING that is supposed to be there IS there. We left the lot without the power controls for the heated mattresses. Fortunately, Forest River dropped shipped two new ones.

We Love ours Late 2015 23IKSS, enjoy yours and good luck, is that a diesel BMW X Series? Seems to be very low in the rear. As you stated just redo your WDH and should be good to go.

Using 2 adapters and that far out past the spare tire with 2? Bikes Lots of leverage and Movement! Good Luck! Youroo!!
