New 23ss finally headed home

Left rvw yesterday at 3pm made it 3 hours stop to do a night of turtling in sub 20 degree weather. Watched a movie with the wife and had a couple beers to celebrate! Good night sleep! Another 7 to 8 hours to get back to new jersey. Soon lots of questions!

Congrats and good luck with your Roo. We had a 2008 23SS until last year and never had a problem with it. We traded it on a Rockwood ultra lite fifth wheel 2365ws. It was between the Roo23ikss and the fifth wheel we just thought set up time would be easier in the fifth wheel. Have fun and Happy Camping!

Congratulations on your new 23ss. We have a 2014 Shamrock 23ikss and love it. We are ready to start our second season as soon as we have some decent weather. I have found a lot of friendly people that are happy to share great advice and knowledge. Enjoy!!

Hey 1beachbum...quick question on your camper. Can you regulate the hot water temp? We haven't even touched our hot water yet, just got our camper Wednesday. We got the furnace going...just wondering about the hot water. The previous owner told us, I'm sure, but we're new to the HTT world and it was waaaaayyy too much information in a short time.

We have not attempted to regulate hot water temp. I am still pretty new to having a TT.

the answer is NO. unless you want to do a mod, so you can do that.
i don't know of any hybrid that has that feature, nor a lot of other types of RV's.
nearly all RV's have water heaters with a set temp point.

Congrats 1st timer. Enjoy! I like your truck. I'm looking for an upgrade soon and the Chevy/GMC is on the list.

Sewingcybermom - the water heater temp is factory set and you can not change it. I just looked into that as we thought ours was not hot enough. So far we have only run ours on propane but there is an electric switch to run it off campsite electricity (which is recommended so you wont waste your propane).

The Atwood hot water heater owners manual here:

says the following (pg 16) under "FEATURES:"

"A pre-set thermostat set for 140° F. An aftermarket retro-fit adjustable thermostat is available and adjustable from 110° to 150° F."

And on pg 23:

"If a customer is dissatisfied with the temperature of the water, first check the water temperature with a cooking thermometer and verifying that the initial cycle is within the time noted above. If not, an adjustable thermostat may be purchased allowing the water temperatures to be adjusted from 110 - 150° F. It fits in place of the original thermostat."

It's not clear if it's talking about the gas thermostat or the 110VAC thermostat, or both.

Thanks everyone! First time towing anything this size and this wide! Wow it's wide that God I got trailering mirrors. Nothing like a 12 hour road trip with mountains, cities and caravans of 18 wheelers to get acquainted the handling of the rig. But the equilizer hitch did well. Got her home backed into the driveway in the dark. Here comes one of my 1st questions. ... backing in and weight distribution? I left I hooked up and it was OK but I think I remember seeing a thread that may have selected removing it? But that's for another day. The family is pumped to get out and use it! Now if the weather will just cooperate!

do you have the actual Equal-i-zer or are you using it as a generic term for a WDH? because you said "remove it", makes it sound like you're talking about a single friction anti-sway bar, which the real Equal-i-zer doesn't have.

if it's the real Equal-i-zer, then NO, you don't have to remove the bars.
threads like the one you are thinking about, are referring to old tech WDH's that use a simple added friction anti-sway bar.

Yes it is the real Equal-i-zer, that was going to be a follow up question because it would seem ridiculous to take that apart. I was really impressed with the Equal-i-zer wdh no sway the truck was very calm with 18 wheelers flying by.
