New and improved pantry in my new 233s
Hello all,
I just got my new 2014 233S home in February and we have still not been out in her yet. So far we have spent most of our time buying new toys for it and making some improvements.
I wasn't a fan of the current pantry layout, the shelves are tall and very deep and I have a 4'11" wife and a 5 year old daughter so I forsee both of them asking my 6,1" tall self to grab items from the pantry all the time.
So I fired up my workshop and made some improvments...
The Before
And after hours of work... the after
I just finished adding some stain and poly and I will post some additional installed pics.

Did something similar in our wardrobe closet to increase usable space, added 3 drawers and I ended up getting one of the 3. Guess who got the other 2 + the rest of the wardrobe closet?

How did you mount the glides/drawers? I'm looking for glides that will mount under the drawers and to the shelf, more like a roll out than a slide out, if I'm making any sense here Not having success finding that type of hardware.

Great job! We're not talented the way you are, so prob will be buying rev-a- shelves to accomplish same thing since our cabinets are very deep. Reaching into the back of them is really a PITA.

Thank you everyone for the kind replies!
OldCoot - Looks great!! That is one of the reasons I didn't do this in the Wardrobe closet as well. I knew the wife would dominate the closet while I live out of my bag in the back of the pickup truck LOL
Mrs Evans - They do actually make Under drawer slides. Most Home improvement stores stock them (lowes, depot etc etc)
You could easily screw these rails onto the existing shelves and just put your new drawers or containers right on top of them.
I mounted my rails with Toggle Bolts. Since the sides of the cabinet is just thin paneling I needed something that would hold pretty strong.
I drilled a large enough hole for the toggle to go through the wall. It also allowed me some flexibility to adjust the rails perfectly before I tightened them down.
If anyone would like more datailed photos please let me know and I would be more than happy to post some
Example of a Toggle Bolt in action...

I used this style drawer slide. You only have to attach the front, back and bottom the slide is the side of the drawer. I glued 1/4 inch plywood to the sides of the cabinet to build it up so the drawers would fit through the door and also add more wood to attach the slides to.

May I ask why you want bottom mounted slides as opposed to side mounted slides?

Currently have 'pegboard' shelves installed in the pantry and they can be adjusted if I want to and was thinking it might be better to make the glides attach to the shelf instead of the pegboard to keep it adjustable. Here's are a couple of pics of what I have except I'm using much better shelf support pegs (last pic):
Totally open to ideas about how best to install a roll-out drawer for this scenario :-)

Hey Caper - I like those drawer slides, they are pretty friendly to use and they would have saved me a little more room on the sides, the 1 inch (3/4) wood I use ate up some space on the sides. I have not seen these for sale anywhere near me though which is strange. I just opted for making a box instead. I did however use wood strips to also build up the right side of the cabinet, I just fastened them with toggle bolts, again made it easier to adjust.
One thing I noticed on my pantry is the measurements are all over the place, it's wider in the front and narrows in the back, the wall bows out a bit at the top etc etc... not the easiest closet to work in.
Mrs Evans - I really like that! The pegboard looks pretty neat! it makes the shelves adjustable and you can probably buy other pegboard related hooks and clips to keep items better organized. With that setup mounting a drawer on top of a shelf would be a great idea.
I have seen brackets specifically meant for Kitchen cabinets so you can add a drawer to them

If you install pullout drawers onto the peg board shelves, when you pull the drawer out the shelf will flip up at the back because of the weight being transferred beyond the front of the shelf.
