Yes, the 12 volts comes from the TT's battery.
If the tow vehicle is plugged into the TT, it will charge the battery and supply the fridge. However, by the time the power gets back to the TT's battery, the voltage has dropped and you don't get a lot of charging. Certainly nothing like what you'll get from your converter or a real battery charger.

Nearly all tow vehicles will only provide a trickle charge at best, while towing or idling.

In my Salem, I always found temperature 4 to 5 degrees cooler on AC power. Maybe because I am not always careful on side to side levelling??

You will need to bleed the air from the sys before you try to light the fridge,,, you can do that by lighting the stove !!!

I guess it depends on the vehicle. My Silverado has a HD charging system and will charge the battery.

I think the previous posts have about covered everything you need to know:
- run the fridge on electric the day before (cheaper than propane)
- turn on propane and light up a couple stove burners to bleed air out of the gas system
- disconnect electricity. With fridge on Auto it will try to light - you may be able to hear it ticking at the outside panel at the back of the fridge as the sparker tries to ignite the propane
- once you hear the flame burning and the light on the front of the fridge stays on, you're good to go.
If the trailer hasn't been used for a long time, check the propane operation now before you need it. If it doesn't want to light on propane you can deal with it now before you have to take it in to trade.
Enjoy the new 21SS!

Ya all have been very helpful. Got another question, will post another thread with it so not to hijack this one (wondering what a good price is on a slide topper (awning thingy) for the 21SS)
Thanks again - great group, most helpful.

Most tow vehicles don't have HD charging systems.

Start it of with propane, it cools the fridge twice as fast as electric. Put it on auto then plug into house power. Leave propane on as you travel.

If you plug it in a day or so before you leave,,, and fill the freezer after it gets cold,,, you will save a lot of propane !!!
