Even with experience one can forget especially if it has been a while. It might had been 18-20 months since I last opened my awning. About halfway through the steps I had to pause while racking my memory on what to do next.

All I can say is WOW - I am overwhelmed by the amount of help and information shared by everyone. The Water Heating posting under the FAQ section was exactly what I was looking for - need to spend a whole lot more time in that section for sure. I am now grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting down to a marathon YouTube session from all the links provided. Thanks you so much to everyone for the hints, tips and tricks noted - the stress has gone down and the camping excitement has gone up!!!

I lived that...well, sort of. In my haste to hook-up and dump at a busy dump station, I failed to notice my stinky slinky wasn't completely engaged at the dump pipe. I pulled the black valve and S&$T went flying all over! Of course I had to try to act like everything was under control.... That was NASTY.

Recognize in advance that you will be guilty of Stupid Owner Tricks. Don't sweat it. Everyone is. Some are more costly than others but all are educational experiences.

Camping isn't effortless. As you do it more often, some things become routine and require less effort. You'll figure out which order to do some tasks. You eventually avoid undoing some parts of it so you can do the step you forgot. It gets easier.

Some people try camping a few times, get overwhelmed, and quit. They think of camping as too much work. Others think of the work as camping, and enjoy it. You should, too.

Take it slow. Be safe. Enjoy the process.

My biggest challenge when we got our new 23IKSS last summer was (and still is) remembering to drive in three dimensions. We are all use to paying attention to where we are in a lane (side to side) and how close we are to the car in front of us, but remembering to look up for branches and other obstacles is still something I forget about. One day, that AC is coming off... I just know it.

I still duck my head going under overpasses even though my 23IKSS is 9'7" and the overpass may be like 14'5"...lol

So true. Remember, that 9'7" is the roof height and does not include the AC. With that it is more like 10'6". But like you, anything under 11' and I will have a spotter just in case.

Wow, after reading the posts, I've realize we're NOT the only crazy people!

Even after years of camping, we still forget silly things like bread, a toothbrush, a cell phone charger, and dish detergent. (And that was just last camping season!)

Expect hat something will always happen, we just laugh at it and remember what happened.
Our checklist is the best thing we have and add to it each time something new occurs. Relax is good advice. Anytime I don't check the checklist it comes back to haunt me - no exceptions there!

By George, I think we got it!! Thanks to everyone here we managed to get our summarization completed. Did have a couple of quick final questions if anyone could chime in;
- we hooked up to city water to make it easier but also had the pump running - would this damage the pump?
- we realized after we didn't add a fresh filter - can we just disconnect the city water and remove the filter canister?
- was double checking the hot water heater area and noticed a slight drip from the release valve - should I be concerned?

Thanks everyone for the great help and assistance.

Well that's easy enough.

- nope.
- yep.
- nope. If you are getting a steady drip you might work it around a bit to reseat it, but it should be fine.

Sounds like you're good to go.

You could damage the water pump if the FW tank is empty.
But if it ran a short time, it should be fine.

If you've got city water turned on, I have to ask why your pump is running? The city water pressure should be high enough to keep the pump from running.

I think what rock meant to say was you do not need to turn on the pump if you are using city water

No, I said what I meant. If his pump is running with the city water turned on, then either his city water pressure is WAY low, or the pressure switch that shuts off the pump is broken or set too high.

But you're right, too. If he has city water, he can/should turn off the pump.

In regards to his 2nd question, he should turn off the city water AND the pump before he replaces the filter.
