New Tire Suggestion for 2015 Roo 23IKSS
I am looking for suggestions on new tires, what size tires are on the Roo anyway? not picking mine up until this Saturday. I am already going to replace the Pirelli P Rated crun on my 2014 Ford F150 with BFGoodrich TKO2's soon, but want to prepare to get the new tires for the Roo as I plan on doing a lot of long trips between now and next year and do not want to take a chance with a China Bomb. I rarely go past 65 MPH but just in case I want the Roo to be sure footed…

Your camper tires will be ST with a speed rating of 65 mph. Why don't you look into installing a quality TPMS like TST 507, Tire Minder, etc. and keep the OEM tires. All ST tire are sourced off shore now...some with a better reputation than others.

The tires on our 2015 IKSS are ST205/75R14. We got ours last summer and already have over 3,500 miles on them. No problems or issues. I check the pressure before each trip and keep my speed at 60-62mph. Regardless of potential tire issues, I just don't like the feeling when towing any faster.

My research indicated that Maxxis is the best out their for TT. That's just a bunch of people's opinions. I certainly feel a TPMS is a valuable add on.

No TPMS yet, but it is in the plans for this year.

I have the China bombs but don't make long trips so I purchased a TPMS system.
When I went to put the valve readers on the tires, 3 out of 4 had el-cheapo (probably Chinese) valve stems that had more rubber than metal so the readers weren't able to screw in far enough....boy was I mad! (One of the el-cheapo valves had a tear so I had to get the valve replaced and they put something called a "high pressure stem" which is what I'll get on the other 2 tires...one of the 4 tires already had it on there...kinda strange. (I'm not sure if those tires were put on at the FR factory or at my dealer.)
I'll be replacing my four tires at the first signs of trouble or in a year or so...whatever comes first...the tires I want, Maxxis, are around $125 each)

Getting ready to pull our Roo out for its 3rd season. First season - about 3500 miles, no issues. 2nd season, got about 8 miles down the road before having a complete tread separation. Don't think I hit anything, but the scariest part was I had no idea the tire was flat. Trailer rode just fine on 3 tires. Then picked up a nail another one, and had the valve stems on all three remaining OEM tires crack. FR warrantied the separated tread and the 3 valve stems under the 2nd year warranty so I covered my $150 right there.
When the weather finally cooperates, going to pull the Roo out for the season and get new tires and a TST pressure monitor. I was thinking Maxxis or GY Marathon, but now leaning toward Kumho 857's. They are a Euro/metric size that apparently is marketed as an LT in Europe and an ST in the US. They are the only LR D tires readily available in a 14" size. They aren't however, and exact fit. Either need to go slightly narrower (like 195) to keep the same diameter, or if you go with 205, the diameter is about an inch bigger. There isn't much room in the wheel wells now, so if I can figure out the right size, I think I'll give these a run.

Hey Wicked. Why are you fine with the stock Roo tires? Are they not the china bombs you were afraid of? Just curious if they changed them out or not.
I got china bombs with mine but am going to gamble on a few short trips this year around New England. I will be under 3 hours of driving all times. I plan on taking it slow at 60mph.
Vin.

If it were me, I'd make 50 top speed and even then it's a huge gamble.

I have 300 miles on them and they were fine coming home I am doing short trips this year and first Priority is getting rid of the Pirelli's on my truck then TPMS for Roo then next year most likely Goodyear tires. I usually do 60mph sometimes 65 I never go above that

Looks pretty simple. This is the kit I will most likely get.

All I can say is enjoy it while you can, it's just a matter of time until one or more will blow and cause major damage.

What are china bombs? What brand are the tires you are talking about. New trailer and you need to replace already?

Tires are a hot topic on here. As for brands, you can basically research whatever brand you want and find good and bad stuff about them. I dont believe any are made in the US. But it is also unreasonable for a new trailer owner to immediately spend $500 plus to replace tires. A TPMS add on system is cheaper and would let you know if a tire was losing pressure.

Agree, but facts are facts, what the factory puts on are junk and are subjected to some terrible conditions on the way to the dealers. I agree you shouldn't have to replace brand new tires on a brand new trailer, but too many have experienced disastrous damage from blowouts to not take the precaution of replacing them immediately.
