Just upgraded from a Coleman PUP to an 11 Roo 233s. Just picked it up last week and set to take it out this weekend. Ca

Question 1. Anyone have a link to getting the hot water tank going. We never used the one in the pup, so this is uncharted territory for me. Thanks in advance.

I have a roo 23ss. I have electronic ignition,, so I do is flip a switch. Oh and make sure the gas is on, and the system primed.

You probably have a gas and electric water heater. The gas control is on your control panel, the electric control is a rocker switch on the heater itself.
If you have electricity at your campsite, save your propane and use the electric side.

Be sure tank is full before flipping the electric switch. If not full, you will fry the element.

Yes, it's a gas/electric water heater. Never used one before. Didn't get a walk though at purchase, so that's why I ask.

I just upgraded from a coleman to 23ikss myself. I made my first trip a few weeks back. For the hot water heater I made sure it was full, there is a by pass switch in the back compartment on the left, and used the gas to get it up to temperature and then switched to electric. I lit the burner in the stove top figuring it would pull the gas into the system and then turned the toggle switch in the control panel on. It took a few tries to ignite. So much better than lighting it manually. When the water was up to temperature I hit the electric toggle switch and there is a small black switch on the top left of the heater unit itself to throw.

Is there a better way to prime it with gas anyone?

You should have gotten a manual with some basic instructions. They are almost foolproof (almost). I've never had to prime mine. I just make sure it has water, turn on the gas and flip the switch on the panel. (BOOM!) sorry had to do that. This year we've had both gas and electric on. Some people think it helps with recovery but I'm not sure yet.

I don't worry too much about using too much propane. We're still on the original two tanks full. Going on year 3.

Also if you go electric check that the circuit breaker is on. There should be one dedicated to your water heater. (That's how we control the WH - instead of the outside switch.)

I always light the stove to get the propane lines full. Never had any issues starting any of the gas appliances with this method

Yup - that's what we do. Both the water heater and the fridge usually fire off real quick even though they are further down the line than the stove.

I guess I'm waiting just that much less! (Of course time is relative - depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on. )

Thanks everyone for your input. First trip out went great. Water heater worked just fine on electric/gas. A/C was meh during the day, but it was over a 100 this weekend and we had no shade...froze us out at night. Had some condensation around bathroom vent though.
