Newbie with a 2015 233S - Logistics/storage Questions

Hello all. We are the happy owners of a new 2015 233S. Build date is 6/2014 so she isn't the newest, but we got a great deal and full warranty so we are happy! Also opted for the 7-year extended warranty to be sure were covered for a while. I've been lurking in the forum for the last 2 months and found so much great info, mods, and hacks. Thanks for that!

Our PDI went well. I used the PDI checklist from this forum and it was great. We've camped in rented campers, so I'm not totally green, but this is the first I've owned. I really didn't find anything serious. A few caulk bubbles on the roof that we touched up, but everything seemed fine. It was winterized so I did have to go on their word that the air pressure test showed a tight water system. We had her home for a couple of weeks when I realized that there was a problem with the crank window over the sink. It wouldn't close all the way. Turns out the frame was not adhered to the glass on the bottom and the frame would drop slightly preventing the window from closing. So, it's been back at the dealer for a couple of weeks waiting for a new window. Other than that I think we are in good shape!

A question for folks on what they do for storage of all the extras like wood blocks, WDH arms and hitch, hoses, cords, chocks, etc. It looks like the drivers side compartment in the slide is the most convenient place. I'm thinking of covering the carpet with a mat or something to keep it clean. And maybe use some short totes or something. I'd appreciate any hacks others have come up with. The compartment on the passenger side looks like it will mostly house the grill and cranks and such. Will be towing with a 2007 Expedition EL, so there is space in the truck also, but I will want to limit the weight in the back end since we are a family of six.

We can't wait to get her back and set her up. We found a few nice organizers for the wardrobe and pantry. And we've already booked 4 trips in CT and NH. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Folks will have good ideas of where they have found to store their stuff and that is a good starting place with that said until you actually give it a try you will not know. Myself I like to keep some of the stuff like blocks in the truck.

I did a take off on the stinky slinky fence post mod for my hitch bars using 2" PVC pipe. Keeps the messy end out of the camper.

Just realized you may not know what the stinky slinky fence post mod is. It's basically a 5" PVC fence post with a rain gutter inside to hold the sewer hose). First pics are on my Roo 19. Last pic is after I painted it black and put it on my new Mini Lite.

Some folks drill mounting holes into their frames. I didn't want to drill holes, so I put large fender washers on each side of the flange. See last pic and the PDF file.

I did this mod to my new TT. Instead of mounting under the TT, I mounted it on top of my rear bumber, painted it black and added a 2 inch wide reflective tape. Looks great and stays a lot cleaner than under the TT. I went one step further and mounted two LED lights on top of the 5 inch tube as backup lights when backing into a campsite in the dark.

I would be concerned stowing heavy items in a compartment built into a slide. We have one on our 2500TS and only store light items there. There is already a lot of weight with the slide opened.

If the 2015 is like the 2013, then there is some hidden storage in the back I love having.

Link worked for me on iPhone. I'm not familiar with your TT but use totes in our MH inside and out. There is a such a multitude of size, colour and plastic strength available that there seems to be one for every use.

I leave my hitch and bars outside locked to the trailer tongue. I found a cable lock that will thread through the various holes. Too much weight to put in any of my locked storage areas.

Thanks everyone! I especially like the fence post mods. And thanks for mentioning the weight issue. I hadn't considered that. The window is fixed and we brought her home today. Looks like one more week of winter in CT before we can get serious and set things up.

I agree .......I store items in the slide compartment that are relatively light and will be removed and used while camping. No heavy stuff........This will keep any extra weight from being there when the slide is extended and in use.

In the 233s the slide is the u shaped dinette set up for 6 people. You shouldnt have any issue with what ever you want to put in the slide. I could most definitely be wrong and if I am I might have to relocate some of my stuff [emoji15]

This is the dinette we have in the 2500TS. "You (I) shouldnt have any issue with what ever you want to put in the slide." You are absolutely correct, because I am not gambling on damaging a slide to store heavy items at the outer most edge. Those tracks, gears and motors are worth more than a gamble. This is not meant to disrespect your views, but is meant to give others a different opinion.

I would have to agree with you. I wouldn't want to damage any of those parts. And no disrespect taken at all. I value everyone's opinion on this site. I should have been more precise. I meant store what ever you want with in reason. Definitely don't keep all the family's bowling balls in there. Lol

I was out tinkering today. Unpacking my Amazon order with parts, pieces, adapters and such. I decided to put it all into the slide compartment. Will also add leveling boards and jack blocks. I figure 90% of this will be removed for camper setup removing all of the weight.

I also scored a win with the rubber trays we bought this winter from a local store for winter boots and the dog dish. The width was perfect and covered up the carpeting in the compartment. It also gave some edges to keep things from sliding around too much.

Things are coming together. Still lots to do. But it's too cold now and the UConn women are playing. GO UCONN!

Hey there PEAS_PA welcome to the ROO owner family! My 2013 I have been storing the same since day 1 and it seems to work just fine with no issues so I'll share it in case it is along the lines of what you were looking for.

Passenger side forward comp. (under couch w/water heater on right side-front of trailer) I keep all my plastic leveling blocks, wheel chocks, hitch and weight distribution bars and acouple of pressure treated wooden blocks for just in case times. I installed a set of two fishing pole (plastic piece w/ open grooves filled with foam) racks inside on back of wood seat frame to hold all the metal slide and jack wrenches/handles. These stay in that rack cause I use a battery operated drill to set the stabilizer jacks...and that stays in this compartment as well. I store the vinyl/plastic camp mat that we lay on the ground outside our door by folding it up like it was in the bag we bought it in....and then I tuck it against the underside of the couch seat (cieling of the compartment) by using the false wall that separates the water heater as one side, and I use a length of 1x2 wood cut to sit on top of the wood rail under the couch and the top of the access door frame as the other side.

In the Rear comp. (left side of rig facing rear wall) I keep a hydraulic bottle jack, lug wrench, small tool kit, small rubber maid container (2.5 gall??) to hold septic tank fittings that I don't normally use but carry as "in case needed" a 1 gal rubbermaid drink style container I use for mixing toilet chemicals when needed, a bag/box of toilet chemical and the hose I use to do my black tank flushes. I also have a nice small plastic folding (from camp store) step stool I use for sitting while waiting on that flush to happen and tanks to dump.

In the Driver Side comp. under the dinette, I keep the grill, a Coleman camp stove, my power cord, my water hose and filter (small inline ones from walmart or camp store too) and I also have larger rubbermaid container (5 or 10 gal??) that I keep extension cords, awning lights, water pressure regulator, cable for tv hookup (although seldom used) and I also keep a collapsable extension pole with a 2ft window cleaning "t-bar" thingy that has the sponge like cloth on one side and rubber squeegee on other... I use that to clean/dry off my awning after camping before rolling it up.

PHEW...guess I carry ALOT of junk around in dem dare cabinets!
