No Power

I am camping at a state park site that has 30 amp working electrical hook ups but am not getting that power into my camper. The 30 amp chord doesn't seem to be working. When I plug it in, the lights on the chord do not light up. The surge protector lights up showing power. Decided to camp 2 nights without it and tried to conserve battery power. It's Sunday morning and I've run down my battery. Now to close slide out and awning my options seem to be 1. Try to borrow neighbor 30 amp chord or battery, 2. Manual crank, 3. jumper cables and TV battery, 3. Drive 2 hours home for the back up jumper/battery pack that I forgot to bring. Guess I'll try the camping neighbors 1st. Any other ideas? Side note: Im camping with 7 kids under age 12. We are having a great time and beautiful weather.

Just plug into your truck. You should have 12V power to close slides and awning.

It sounds like from your post that you have a portable surge protector plugged into the park power and then your power cord plugged into the surge protector. Since you are in the bind here I would suggest you remove the surge protector and plug directly into the park power. Of course there is a slight risk here if the park power is bad. You may want to contact a park ranger or similar and have them look at the park power first. Power outlets in Public Parks are bad very often.

Yes. Took the risk without surge protector. Didn't work. Elect Box seems to be working. Getting 3 prong extension chord to charge phones, run electric griddle, etc.

Could be that one of the wires at the female or male end plug came loose.

uhduh camping gave you the answer. Hook up the truck to the trailer and keep the engine running. You should have enough power to bring in your slides. I had to do this myself a few years back.

Maybe. I really want to test with another power chord while at a 30 amp site but neighbors at these electric only sites are all tent campers.

The little blue LED on my cord blew out within 2 weeks. It has nothing to do with the cord's functionality.

Do you have 115 volts at any of your camper's power outlets? If so, you need to look at the converter and the charge line to your battery.

It could be a loose connection at the main circuit breaker in your power center.

No 115 power. Tried every campsite for a power chord. No luck. Tried hooking up to truck via the 7 pin trailer wiring. No power. Although I've never gotten power to camper that way. Now thinking jumper cables to battery or manual cranking.

Check glove box. If you have a new TV many times the only issue with the aux 12V to the TT is that the fuse has not been installed. If that is the case, they are many times in the glove box. Also on some TV the 12V aux will not work unless ignition is on. Power issue could be a loose wire where power cord connects to distribution panel/converter. Of if you have a plug on side of TT where internal power wire connects to plug.

I would use the truck and jumper cables to get the slides closed and then trouble shoot it at home good luck

Got slide out and awning in by connecting my TV battery to camper instead of my dead battery. Still need to diagnose 30 amp power issue.

Is there any kind of breaker on the surge protector?

Do you have a small volt meter?

These two simple tools can save you many times over and help us solve issues while you are on the road.

A 110 female to 30 amp male adapter can troubleshoot pedestal problems too.

Plugging the outlet tester into the adapter will show proper wiring of the pedestal.

Do not succumb to the temptation to "camp" on your truck's battery. You will quickly kill it since it has almost no capacity beyond starting your truck (cranking for several minutes).

That is why RV batteries are built differently to have lots of capacity. They charge very slowly due to the amount of electrons that have to be stuffed in them. Starting batteries are designed to give up nearly everything quickly to start your engine, but recharge just as fast.

Get that battery back in your truck, start it, and run it at fast idle for 30 minutes or so.

No Power

At home, all unpacked and cleaned up. So, big red embarrassed face, but here is what the issue was.....one of the little ones, probably the three year old, flipped all the breakers. They were all in the off position. So when I tested them, all I did was flip them on for a second and back to the off position. My fault. Thanks for sharing in my stupidity.

Ehh, we've all been thru harrowing times when we expected the worst and it was something small. Don't sweat it. I'm positive you'll never have that happen on a camping trip again!

Lawzy me, son! That ain't stupid!

I have stories I could tell all night about the TRULY STUPID things my kids made me do!

In fact, this one sounds absolutely plausible and even though it's a head-slapper, I betcha it could happen to anyone. I DO LOVE READING OTHER PEOPLE'S MISTAKES, but the problem is, I'm too danged old to remember 'em! SO imagine how stupid I'm gonna sound when I get on here next year and report I've done the same thing, and everyone says "Hey dummy, don'tcha remember when it happened to.............?"

Heck, without wifi I'd be hard pressed to even sign on to here and report a problem.

Have one on me! Life's too short not to laugh at ourselves!

My R00 19 had the battery cut off on the cabinet under the frig. The first thing my grandson did when he entered the camper was to push the knob and kill all the power to the camper!
