Odd Placement of RV Grill Arm
I went to inspect and sign the papers on my new 23IKSS the other day. There was one odd thing that the dealer couldn't explain. The RV Grill stand that is connected to the bumper is in an odd location, and cannot be swiveled/extended without taking off the spare tire. The spare tire cannot be mounted more to the side because it will then block a storage compartment door. And the RV grill stand cannot be moved to the other side any more because it will project out past the side of the camper. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this or what they've done to remedy the problem.

I have the same unit and have used the grill several times. The arm bends to allow the grill to come around the side of the unit. The grill works great and have BBQ several steaks on it. Just bend the arm to move it around the tire. Not a big deal to do so.

So I picked up my roo yesterday but I'm still not seeing how the grill works without taking off or moving tire. Dealer said that was the way they designed it. I'm a little baffled.

Does the tire have a swing down arm?

It also looks like you have enough room to move the mount out towards the edge of camper more, possibly enough to clear the tire.

Have the dealer replace the tire mount with a tilt down style. This should allow the clearance for the swing out grill mount.

Loosen the 4 bolts and slide the unit to the right. Might take 5 minutes and problem solved.

It looks like the tire could be moved a smidge to the driver's side (slightly limiting how far you can open the compartment door - but, it looks to be slightly limited in its present location anyway), and the swing-arm (grill stand) can be slightly moved to the passenger side. Even if the swing-arm protrudes slightly past the edge of the trailer, it will not be any more than your speakers/awning/patio light already do.
Our 233S has a similar rear compartment that has the hinges at the bottom of the compartment (causing it to open door-down). Curious why they wouldn't do the same with yours.
My guess is that it's a quality control issue at the factory. Not surprising, but easily remedied. We had a few minor such issues when we first got our camper, but I enjoy "playing" with it, so making a few "corrections" allowed me an opportunity to better know the unit.
Enjoy the new camper! :-)

We have the same camper, and our grill is mounted a lot farther to the right. It extends past the side of the camper, but it's not been a problem because the amount is so slight. I'll try to post some photos.

If you look at the bracket carefully you will notice that it pivots in two places. One right at the outside corner where it will swing around to the side of the trailer and the other where the mounting plate meets the tube. If the mounting plate is held in place with one hand and the pivot point at the mounting plate to the tube is pulled with the other ( it may be stiff since it is new) the bracket will form a triangle allowing the outmost edge of the mounting plate to clear the tire and swing around it. It might not be the most convenient but it is possible to use in it's current location.
I don't pick up my 23IKSS for another week but have been to the dealer a few times to get familiar with it. He has been very helpful so far.

You were right... The plate that the grill hangs on bends. Very stiff though which is why I didn't catch it before. That makes me feel a little better. Thanks for the help.

Nice to see you are getting time to check out the unit. I don't get mine until next week. The wait is killing me. If you find anything handy let me know.

Maybe you could loosen the U-bolts and slide the arm assembly outwards until it clears the spare. The unit I saw at the dealership had no issues swinging the arm outwards so the assembly must have been mounted more outboards thn on the OP's RV.

Does anyone know if that mounting arm can be purchased anywhere ?
Or does anyone have one that they would sell ?
I have a grill from my last camper but no way to mount it.
Thanks,
Bean

I have an arm that I'm not using, but don't have an extra bumper mount as of yet. I plan on improving my current mount to handle my new custom arm. PM me and we can talk.
