OMG Scissor Jack Question
New to scissor jacks on my camper. The first three had outrigger jacks and
never had a problem. After leveling the camper, I just tightened them down as hard as I could, and had no problem.
Now with scissor jacks I am having a problem. I level up the camper and when I extend the jacks, they seem to be too aggressive. When I think I am
done, I've noticed that sometimes the tongue jack lifts up about 1/4" or more, and the door does not fasten good. When I raise all the jacks, the camper is level and the door works great.
My question is, do you just lightly place the jacks on the ground, and call it
good? And then go around later and maybe tighten them a little more?
Any advice would be great.

I put mine down snug but not overly hard. I then tighten them again a little the next day.

Its very easy to over-tighten these jacks, and your first clue is the door not shutting properly. They should be snug, but you can't take all the movement out of the trailer with the jacks. X-chocks and other stabilizing systems can help stabilize the trailer more.

I just run them down snug on the ground, mine are for stabilizing and I do not list with them. I sung em up and then go inside and kinda rock back and forth a tad (nothing crazy) then go back and snug em up again.

I like to use the plastic blocks so I don't have to extend them as far. In my experience they tend to do a little better when they are against something solid and not as extended.

I run mine down with a cordless drill. It's got a torque setting ring, so I can adjust how snug they are with the torque ring. Start light and work up.

If you are lifting the trailer, that is a major problem. They are only supposed to touch the ground to avoid shaking when moving about. They are not for support. I use an 18v cordless drill and high slip setting to run them down until they just touch.

You beat me to it. Only to be used for stabilizing the trailer, not leveling it.
Harbor Freight has an 18 volt 1/4 inch impact that works great for running them in and out. Seems to have just the right amount of torque.

X3. I use Lynx levellers to shorten up the depth on the scissor jack and adjust them every day.

In my experience, the lower they are, the more unstable they become. I use 2/3 pieces of 2x6 18 inches long. Then just crank them down a bit until snug. It seems to help a lot.
