Options for replacing the steps

These steps hang down too low when stored and are way overkill IMO. Has anyone removed them and tried torklift glowsteps or other similar type scissor stairs? Im wondering how the install would go. Ive come close to hitting the stairs getting into a camp site. I'm also looking at getting the 4" lift, but the stairs got to go!
