Oven in Roo?

We think we want an oven in the Roo we end up buying. However we keep running into the dilemma.

If we find the trailer with color options/floor, then it does not have an oven.

What are your thoughts on the oven? When I was a kid, it was always nice when my mom would make a batch of cookies or cook up a frozen lasagna.

Do you guys think an oven is worth it?

Many use the oven, i have never used mine. We actually just store food (bread) in there. I do know many others do use them. Depends on you and what you plan to be cooking at camp. I rarely even use the burners on top of the stove as i have portable stoves i use outside the camper.

I use the oven a lot when camping. I tend to cook the same thing I would at home. We always make cinnamon rolls on the last day before we start packing up.

we have baked a pizza, made biscuits for biscuits and Gravey, and tater tots.... We think its worth it to have

We use ours as we always plan an indoor meal if the weather gets too nasty. Drawback is that it doesn't like to work well above 7000ft

Use ours quite often. When we make something like baked ziti or mac-cheese at home we'll make an extra pan (disposable pan) and freeze it for camping. Makes for an easy meal and nice on a chilly night.

I use mine all the time, fresh chocolate chip cookies are the best! Make a frozen pizza, sure is nice to have. They normally include a convection microwave oven if they only have a cooktop, which would be a nice option I think, but have never used one. I would not use it as a factor in your "Must Have" list.

IMHO skip the oven and get a convection/microwave to replace the regular microwave. You'll gain storage space and a convection/microwave can cook like a regular oven.

It is a personal choice of how often you are really going to use it. There are instances of people wanting an oven and then come to find that they never use it. The opposite is also true.

But there are alternatives if you don't have an oven, like a convection microwave oven mentioned by Wiscampsin or my personal favorite the cast iron Dutch oven using charcoal to bake stuff (though we are known to fire up the oven from time to time).

Had to have it, never use it. RV ovens tend to burn things on the bottom. Some say you can had a pizza stone to the bottom and fix that. We us ours for storage.

A convection oven/microwave require either hook-up or a generator. We almost always dry camp so those are not an option for us. Love the oven and it gets quite a bit of use. Never had an issue with burning food.

No the microwave that is offered is not convection.

I'll say get what you want. We are using our oven more than we ever expected. And if your dry camping then the Micro/convection is nothing but a storage area.

We wouldn't buy a TT without one. Use it every time we are out camping, whether it be for morning biscuits, cinnamon rolls, or late night pizza / baked goodies.
We bought it to use it.

You can insert a Ceramic Floor tile on the bottom shelf in your oven to create more even heating and prevent the over-burning. Works great!

Contact Mitch at RVWholesalers and just order one. You'll save a ton over buying local and get what you want. They tend to keep several Roos in stock, so they might have what you are looking for already. We use the oven and like it. It's also a great feature to have when you sell or trade on day as most people will use an oven from time to time.
