Pantry in 183
I was wondering what type of modifications people have made to their pantries to get more use out of them. We have no use for hanging clothes and have always placed folded clothes stacked in the cabinet (ie. you always need the pair of jeans on the bottom of the stack, and spend the next 5-10 min picking up everything, folding it and putting it back). I was thinking of adding a shelf or two.

Here is what I have done, and there are several discussions here if you do a search.
I went to Home Depot, got a 48" wide shelf, cut it to the correct width with a metal saw and screwed brackets to the back in the wall with 1inch screws 2 years ago, perfect. The weight pulls down not out and it works well.
We put food in there, very sturdy.

We have a 183 and for our clothes we use the upper shelves around the unit. We store all of our clothes folded and then for the smaller items, small bins keep them hidden on the shelfs. That way we can use the pantry for other items.

You got all those shelves from one 48" wide. Looks exactly what I need. Any problems getting the supports to fit they look really tight. Those are the same type of shelves I install in a closet at home.

I screwed the vertical brackets on the back wall as close as I could to the edge, so that when the brackets were attached they would not interfere.
I think it's 3 X 15", so yes 48" works and it fits nicely.
I would have wanted to mount the shelves upside down, to have the lip up... but the design of the bracket does not allow for that. On the other hand nothing ever fell down in 2 years and over 18,000 mi of travel.
We love it

Miatared,
Is there any wood bracing behind the fiberglass to screw the vertical track bars into? How deep did the 1" screws actually sink into the wall?
The wife wants to buy some free standing shelves, but I'd rather try your solution.

No wood bracket. Screwed directly in the outside wall. Probably 3/4" as the metal bracket is about 1/4" thick. Screwed in very carefully by hand.
It's really a no brainer.

My concern was having the screws pop thru the exterior sidewall. I guess there's a good thickness of fiberglass and insulation from interior wall to exterior wall. Cool.

Hi-Just got back from Home Depot with all shelving and brackets to put in the pantry just as you did. Love the look. We did not get the rail that goes across the top-it looks like you did. Do you think this is something we have to have? We planned to just sit the vertical rails on the floor and screw them into the back. Don't plan on having much weight on the shelves-mostly to pack clothes. Any suggestions appreciated!!

I did put the bracket on top, to hold it up.
I had a length left from some previous work in my home.
We now put food, cans & jars - very sturdy, nothing moved or pulled.
