Permanent changes you would like to see in a HTT

What permanent changes you would like to see Forest River incorporate in a HHT?

These are my top 5:

1) Reinforced bumper so you can add a bike rack
2) Battery disconnect
3) A way to attach PUGS at the top of the doors maybe even so you can leave them if you choose
4) Detailed manuals
5) screen doors with lexan

Well it looks like the Battery disconnect has made it to the newest 2012's

Let's all hold hands and hum or pray together for the other ones

i agree about the battery disconnect for my HTT.
and, if possible, a rear receiver for a bike rack or platform, but this is difficult with ultra-lite frames.

one thing not mentioned, would be a small hammock or hanging shelf on the shepherd's pole, to put light things such as glasses, book, ipod and so on.
or it could hand along the side of the tent end, if there were hooks.

We use a hanging shower organizer on the shepards pole makes a handy shelf!

My wish list would include a lot of what I have already done as mods; except for the bike rack on the back. Here's a few. I might add more later after thinking about it.

Rear rack: Ability to carry bikes off the back. But I agree with Dan that I am not sure this is even a possibility with the lighter weight frames. Would be #1 on our wish list, though.

Battery disconnect: Many of us, me included, seem to install an aftermarket disconnect so that was a no brainer and glad to see that Roo/Shamrock is now doing that.

Duct to back bunk: Run a heat duct to the back bunk. It gets cold back there.

Inside bunk cables: Cables running across the inside of the front and side bunk on the 233S to hold in the bedding and canvas. Makes it neater.

I'd like to see a single bowl (and smaller) kitchen sink. Our 233S has such limited counter space, a smaller sink would free up a little more usable space.

My wish list continues.

Obviously, we need to expect that all of these drive up prices. That is why I think some of them should be considered options or optional packages.

A Monitor Upgrade option could be offered for all trailers, not just Hybrids. This would include the following:
  • TriMetric Battery Monitor System to replace the inaccurate dummy light. Useful for dry campers.
  • Thermostat: A home-quality Hunter or Honeywell thermostat.
  • Horst Miracle probes for the tanks using the existing panel or upgrade the entire system with a seelevel gauge.
Truthfully, I am very happy with our unit, but it would be nice so that I don't have to mod it up.

Geez, I have more

Much better tires (as an option, of course).

Larger fresh and gray water tank. My current tanks are 30 gallons for each (with 6 gallons extra FW in the water heater). I'd like to see 35gl FW and GW and the difference can be taken from the BW tank bringing that to 20gl. We have never come close to filling up the BW.

Compartment doors the same size as the compartment. Makes it easier to get bulky items that actually should fit into the compartment in and out.

An owner's manual on DVD or CD for the computer.

Geez, that would take all the fun out of RVing

But more seriously, we would all find ways to 'personalize' our units, c'mon

I have been RV'ing since the 60's and have owned 1 or more of every type of RV. I have always had to add what I would call convenience items like towel racks, shower stuff holders, spice racks, magazine racks, key holders, clothes hooks, garbage cans, laundry baskets and a host of other things that go beyond personalizing items. Between saving a buck and designers who obviously never spent a night in an RV, but decorate it with useless eye candy, I'm not surprised customer loyalty is not a manufacturers strong suit. I have had 4 pick-up campers, 4 travel trailers, 2 motorhomes, 1 pop-up and 1 fifth-wheel and I have never purchased the same brand twice. Between poor customer service, quality issues and suitability, fool me once, shame on you! I'm looking for my 2nd fifth-wheel.

Frames that wouldn't crack/break, axles that wouldn't bend, and tires that wouldn't blow up.

those of you without a HTT, this thread is about changes to that type of RV.
please trying following the intent of the thread.
there are plenty of other threads for ranting about quality in the RV industry.

What, the HTTs have better frames, tires, and axles?
I seriously doubt it.

We have a 19' Roo. Is it just me or is there any reason to have the dinky little bathroom sink 4 feet away from the kitchen sink? Just think of the size of the shower stall there could be by ditching the bathroom sink.

Gross... Just like the RV's that have the bathroom sink outside of the bathroom. I think it's a great idea to wash your hands after going potty! And not in the kitchen sink! Some things just gotta be where they need to be, no matter how small...

the correct acronym is "HTT" or Hybrid Travel Trailer, not HHT.
a HTT is a hybrid blend of a popup with a hard-sided travel trailer.
most have canvas queen bed bunk ends, similar to those on a popup, but the rest of the trailer is a conventional travel trailer.
most are owned by former popup owners who want more amenities and less setup.

there has been a HTH or Hybrid Toy Hauler, though
