Plumbing gurus...question

Okay, I decided to completely remove the water filter housing to avoid the potential of the bowl unscrewing itself as some people have experienced...we don't require a filter anyway as we bring bottle water to drink and just use the storage water or campground hookup to wash/clean with. So, I put a short section of white PEX in place of the water filter housing. I noticed the factory has blue piping and some braided white/clear hoses...is there any issue connecting the white PEX(typically found in the plumbing sections at Home Depot/Lowes, etc) with this blue piping and braided hoses?

I've been using a .69 cent piece of hard 2" long 1/2" threaded plastic tubing for the past year, took my filter out due to leaks. Works like a charm in place of the filter and makes winterizing a breeze. The piece I used is for underground water sprinklers, but is available at any hardware plumbing place so it can take any type of CG pressure.

If you use the Shark Bite fittings found at Home Depot you should be fine..they are pricey but well worth it. Keep a close eye on the braided hose though...that stuff is crap! Mine looked fine after removing the filter and adding the shark bite fittings but a couple hours later the outside casing of the braided hose started to swell and burst...tried it again...same thing...end result seemed like the Shark Bite was biting down on the braided hose but because of the poor design of this hose water got between the outer and inner layer and the pressure caused it to burst. It was eventually recommended to me by a RV Tech to replace that braided hose with proper pex, as he told me that stuff was just trouble for them in the past...followed his recommendation and no more issues.
Some other post in here a while back had pictures of someone's braided hose that after being in storage one winter, the inner layer of that hose had collapsed...it really is junk, and wish the manufacturers would just stick to the pex like stuff they use for rv's...it's not true pex like you buy at Home Depot but quite similar.

You can use any pipe plastic, Pex or hose designed for household use rated for 100 psi or higher, and for cold service only.

White pex is ok to 150+ in cold service. Pex is color coded for its intended service-higher temp, corrosive liquids etc.

My 2 cents for what its worth...im not a plumber or a certified RV mechanic ;-) ....

Blue PEX can be bought at the Home Stores but typically only in bulk 100ft or more rolls and its pricey. When I asked the plumbing experts at my local home store, they claimed the white was the same just without the blue color and the blue just helps installation by color coding things...blue=cold.....

SO I bought two male-male splice connectors, 4 crimp rings (they basically look like a solid copper ring sometimes black in color) and one small section of white PEX. You can rent a PEX crimping tool for not too many dollars at Home Depot for less than a day.

I measured how much white PEX I needed to keep comfortable pipe spacing, crimped the splice connectors into each end and crimped the rings to hold them in place. Then I cut off the existing pipes each side of the water filter. I slid crimp rings onto each pipe in my rig that I just exposed, inserted the coupling piece and crimped it in place.

PRESTO CHANGE-O and no more pesky potential leaking filter.....have been running in excess of a year camping almost monthly with no issues at all.

Hockyfam..I have pics of my rig with the water filter in place, but lost the ones on my phone that had my "post" operative pics...I will try to drop by my rig before the end of the week and get a pic for you and see if I can post it up.

Those crimp ring things are great until you need to change whatever they're holding together. Give me an old-fashioned hose clamp every time.

I have found that a hose clamp will not work on PEX fittings. You cannot get the clamp tight enough to stop the fitting from leaking. I have found that a good file can remove the rings in a short time.

Plumbing connectors for kitchen sink from blue and red hose

Need to find connectors from the red and the white tubing to the kitchen faucet. They broke this winter. Would like to get non plastic ones? Suggestions. Photo attached. Sorry the image won't attach. Here is a more complete descriptiion of my problem Ii have a Rockwood 8314BSS (2013). I winterized it, but need the two connectors hot and cold that go to the kitchen water sink. One is coming off the cold and one off the hot straight from the red and the blue plastic water tubing. These are white with a black aerator insert inside with a metal ring. Thank you!
